Conceiving after the pill

Hello

Im a newbie and wanted to hear others experiences if possible please.

I’ve been on the pill for years and came off it last month. I had my period during what would be my break but then didn’t go back onto the pill after.

I’m now 5 days late going by a 28 day cycle but I know this can vary especially when coming off the pill.

Last week I had period pains, the ones I normally get when I’m about to come on. But they disappeared and now nothing. My lower abdomen feels slightly sore and I had pains like it was tightening. So I was convinced I was pregnant.

I did a test this morning and it was negative so now I’m clearly just having an odd cycle and will come on my period at some point.

I don’t have any children and so this will be my first although I was pregnant about 8 years ago but m/c. When I was pregnant then I remember getting period pains but nothing happened and eventually I found out I was pregnant.

I just wanted to know how long it took others to conceive after being on the pill. Thanks

Hey! I would suggest joining the thread "Post Pill Party - TTC...Still partying."

There are a few of us on there is similar positions and will help. I stopped my pill on 13th Sept, had a withdrawal bleed as usual, and am now waiting for my first proper period. I've had loads of cramping, sore boots, all sorts. I'm OPK testing and haven't ovulated at all, my LH levels are at zero so clearly still full of the pill hormones even nearly a month later

Ok thanks I will join that thread. So you stopped about 2 weeks after me so not far off from me.

No not at all!! We are basically in the same position so can experience it together

@Tillybabs I had very odd cycles coming off the pill

12 yrs on pill, 31yrs old
Cycle 1, 141 days long, never managed to pinpoint ovulation, temps all over the place
AF
Cycle 2, managed to pinpoint ovulation at CD33/34, BFP at CD48

So irregularities are obviously v stressful but dont mean not conceiving. Although does mean I took two cycles to conceive but almost 6mo

@TheDaydreamBelievers oh wow that’s a while then for your cycle to get to some sort of normality. But still 6 months to conceive is not bad and seems realistic.

Congratulations 😃

@Tillybabs it never hit normal at all - cd 33 ovulation would have meant a CD49 cycle if I hadn't conceived! But yet conceiving within 6mo is very normal/realistic timeline as you said. Now just hoping it sticks Grin!
