Cancelled IVF cycle

Hi

Just needed some support. I’m 34 with Antral Follicle count of 16 and AMH levels of 21.8. Been TTC for over 4 years with no luck.
Started my first cycle of IVF and unfortunately it’s been cancelled as I didn’t respond to the drugs. I’m so upset, just don’t understand what’s going on. I expected it not to work but not get cancelled before even teaching egg collection. Beginning to give up now. In need of some support, has anyone else been through this x

@Bottle86 I am sorry to hear this. What drugs/dose were you on? Your AMH and AFC are good so perhaps you just need a tweak in protocol?

Bottle86 · 07/10/2020 14:26

Thanks for your message TTCIVF

I was on a long protocol. Felt like I was down regulating forever (24 days) with bruseralin and then started stimulating with 150 menopur for 6 days. Not much was seen on my day 6 scan so they upped my dose to 300. But as not much progress was seen on the day 8 scan they cancelled the cycle today.

I’ve been thinking the worst case scenario. Keep thinking what if I don’t ever respond to the drugs.

@Bottle86 I know how disheartening a cancelled cycle can be but it's all very much trial and error, particularly with your first cycle. They may adjust your dose from the start, try a different drug altogether or even put you on short protocol. So try not to worry at the moment, there are lots of things they can try Smile good luck!

@Bottle86 We've been trying for over 4 years too and on the waiting list for IVF. Just imagining getting to treatment and having it cancelled is making me emotional so I'm very sorry you're going through it. I don't know much about the process but I do know how I've swung from worst case scenario depressive times to hopeful all will be well ones. I have no advice, just want to say you've made it through the highs and lows this long and you can continue to do so. Hope there's good news in your future soon x

I’ve had the opposite problem and had several cycles cancelled due to over stimulation. It’s so frustrating and time consuming at a point where you don’t feel like you have a lot of time on your side.

Bottle86 · 07/10/2020 15:05

Thank you for your support ladies.

It’s just so difficult. The time spent getting to these treatments is long enough and then the pain of them not working is just too much.

Will keep going..don’t want to give up just yet XX

There’s no need to give up yet. They will change the drug protocol for your next cycle which may help. I think 150 is fairly low so room to increase.

Bottle86 · 07/10/2020 17:15

@MustWe I’m sorry that you’ve had to have cancellations too. It’s so difficult. Are you having another cycle or had any success?

Just been back to the clinic. The consultant wanted to see me. She was in disbelief that the stimulations hadn’t worked.
Thinks there was something wrong with the drugs. Has given me a fresh batch and wants me to carry on stimulating. She was worried I would overstimulate and I’ve done the complete opposite.

No getting my hopes up though. Will see what happens. Part of me has given up on this cycle but will carry on as the clinic hasn’t.

Hi, i know this thread is old but wondering what happened! Did you have any success by carrying on stimming?

I had a day 10 scan and no response so continuing with stims and rescanning at day 14. Not feeling very hopeful though.
