False positives on clearblue digital OPK?

So I only started using these OPKs the past month. All went well for most of the cycle, I got two "peaks" a week apart, but I now understand the first one was probably my body gearing up to ovulate then not actually ovulating. I'm as certain as I can be that I ovulated on the 27th of September, so I'm 9DPO now. AF due in 4 or 5 days.
The OPK was negative, empty circle, the day after the smiley disappeared. (I've been testing every day so I can understand how to read the lines and just buy the cheapie strips for next month, digital is expensive!)

My issue is this, the OPK was negative from the 28th to the 2nd. Then the past 4 days I've had a positive result. Morning, noon or night, it hasn't mattered when I've done the test. All positive, flashing smiley face. But the test strip itself didn't look positive when ejected from the reader, compared to the strips that I'm certain I was ovulating around.

So this morning I ran one under the tap, and it came up positive. I am gutted! 🙁
Is it faulty? Has it been faulty this whole time? Do I need to chuck it in the bin? Take it back to where I bought it?

I was getting my hopes up a little bit thinking I might be pregnant. I know that's ridiculous based on some positive OPKs but google has not been my friend with all the stories of women realising they're pregnant by getting positive OPKs near the end of their cycle...

A FRER came up negative this morning, I know it's still early so keeping my fingers crossed. I'm just so annoyed and confused about the OPK! Anyone else had issues with it?

I'm sure the clear blue tests says to stop testing after you have had a positive result? Not sure if that would have something to do with it 🤔
