Hiya. I went for my early scan on Saturday to make sure everything is perfect, I should have been 5 weeks according to my ovulation date, however I was told I'm 7 weeks. My question is, do they add the 2 weeks from your LMP? Sorry if this sounds uneducated, I was just wondering how the lady made it 7 weeks exactly when it should have been 5 weeks on the dot.

Thank you!

@JPT0102 hey OP, I'm not sure if it's worth posting this on the pregnancy forums :) Some of us on the conception forums have never been PG so may not be able to help :/ congrats to you though and good luck Smile

On second thoughts OP I can answer this! When you get a positive , you're already 4 weeks as your date starts from your LMP :) (roughly based on average cycle of 28days)

Yes OP, pregnancy is 40 weeks from your LMP (38 weeks from your ovulation date). So if you are 5 weeks from ovulation that means you are 7 weeks pregnant - congratulations 🍾
More than half way through your first trimester!

actually scrap that champagne bottle because you really should abstain for another 33 weeks at least...

Yes, pregnancy is counted from your LMP not from your ovulation and your period is typically 2 weeks before ovulation.

I'm 9+5 atm, my last period was 9 weeks ago but I actually ovulated + conceived 7 weeks ago. Your gestational age is likely to change again at your 12 week scan as measurements are more accurate.

Congratulations OP!
