Advice needed please - Faint positve/period

Hello, just looking for some help to sort my muddled thoughts tonight please.

Period started this afternoon but for some reason I took a test this evening, which has shown a very faint positive.

I had my implant removed on 10/08, mild bleeding in the days afterwards.

Had my first period 09/09, DTD around the 20th. Haven't an idea of my cycles yet but going roughly on 28 days, I expected to come on again sometime next week.

Crampy and bleeding this afternoon, just figured I had started a bit early and I'd fall into a cycle once things settle down after years of birth control.

Then this faint positive tonight. Is it possible to get a positive this early? Is it potentially a chemical pregnancy? I feel very much like it's TOTM, if that makes sense.

I've no idea how to feel, my thoughts are all over the place.

Thank you

I can definitely see a line there, fx the bleeding stops, but it could very well be a CP. Keeping everything crossed for you xx

Thank you xx

I've just no idea if the cramps and bleeding are a period or potentially implantation. I've been googling furiously and I'm not any clearer.

Zero other symptoms either - just the usual hormonal rage I usually experience when I'm due on!

How much blood is there and what colour is it?

Flossie763 · 05/10/2020 08:26

Not enough to fill a pad/tampon, mostly when I wipe. Very dark brown/stringy.

My god, the things you share on the Internet Grin

Sorry, me again!

I'm just wondering if anyone has thoughts on what I could potentially do next?

I'm still bleeding - dark brown, not heavy but very stringy/looks like clumps of tissue. Cramping and a very mild burning sensation on one side of my tummy. Not enough to be a pain, but I'm aware of it.

Another test this morning still showing very, very faintly positive.

My question is, do I speak to the GP? Would they even entertain me this early on? I feel ok in myself, physically at least. I don't know if I should wait it out a few days, or get checked over now. I've never been in this situation before Sad

@Flossie763
Just my input as I had a similar experience with a cp in June. I had a positive that was very very faint and started bleeding heavily. Even three days later I was still seeing faint positives. It wasn't until day four that a got a BFN (it takes a while for the hormones to leave your body).

This early on your GP would need be able to do anything. It's obviously up to you if you want to go or not.

The only tip I got was to not use tampons during the bleedings as there was a minor risk of infection.

Flossie763 · 06/10/2020 16:36

@mondray thank you for that, it does sound very similar to what's going on with me just now.

Think I'll maybe wait it out till the end of the week, I'm hoping the tests will either get stronger, or turn negative like you mentioned. If I'm still bleeding and still positive, I'll phone the GP then.

Thank you x

OP, the GP won't help you with this I'm afraid and neither will EPU as you're too early on, assuming the tests are actually positive. I've had similar looking tests before and they were evaps. All my BFPs were stronger from the start. I've had 3 miscarriages, one of them was very early on and even that showed a stronger line than this. I don't mean to be dismissive at all, I'm only trying to give you some peace of mind because I've been on the TTC journey for over 18 months now and I've seen a fair bit of various looking tests during that time. It really may be the case your AF turned up early, unless you have a clearer test. Take care of yourself, no hot baths now just in case xxx

@PurplePansy05 Thank you, I didn't find your message dismissive at all, and I appreciate you sharing your story xx

That was what I thought about GP/EPU, I wouldn't want to waste anyone's time and realistically, nothing can be done anyway. I just wasn't sure what the right course of action was, if that makes sense.

I thought you may be right about the evap lines, I must have taken 10 tests now and all of them show varying degrees of lines on them - none of them much more than a faint "positive" line.

I feel a bit calmer now - thank you all.

I've only just stopped taking birth control, mainly for mental health reasons, but we've taken the approach that although we're not actively trying for the time being, we're not actively avoiding it either. Its such a minefield though, I had no idea what I was letting myself in for.
