Anyone else TTC in their early/mid 20s?

Hi everyone. As the title suggests I'm wondering if there are any girls here who are TTC in their early-mid 20s? I know there are 35+ and 40+ TTC clubs out there but I haven't seen one for those of us who are younger.

I'm 24 and have been TTC for 4/5 months now with no success so far. I have to admit that I never thought it would take us this long! I have a few friends around my age who all fell pregnant by accident or on their first try.

Everyone makes it seem like you are super super fertile when you're younger so I sometimes feel like my body is failing me somehow. Plus my partner and I have a very active sex life naturally so we are definitely giving it our best shot! My cycles are pretty regular and normal too.

Would love to hear from other girls in a similar age range who are going through TTC 😊

@acaciabluebell

I'm 27 - just hanging onto my mid twenties! 😂 Onto my second cycle TTC #1
Not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed when it didn't happen right away but I had my implant removed in August after being on hormonal birth control for over 11 years so I expect to be trying for a little while yet!

Nam095 · 04/10/2020 21:23

I’m 25 and I’m now on my 4th month TTC. I feel exactly the same as you, thought as I’m young it shouldn’t take that long. Feeling a bit more disappointed each month that passes by when I get AF, but I know it will happen eventually. I’ll be ovulating again in about 5 days, I’m hoping that this is finally my month. I’m a lot more relaxed this month as well, I was a bit psycho to start with with all the OPKs etc 😅 so hopefully that will make a positive impact too.

Fingers crossed for us that we get our BFP soon 🤞🏼

confusedcoco · 04/10/2020 22:02

Hey @acaciabluebell 💓

I'm 23, we are TTC our first baby!

I had my nexplanon implant removed early August, AF came a moth to the date of removal and we tried to conceive straight away. unfortunately after getting my BFP, I began to bleed and am currently going through a chemical pregnancy 💔

They definitely make out as though it's easier to conceive when younger, don't they!!

Hope we all get a lovely BFP super soon 💕🙏

acaciabluebell · 04/10/2020 23:04

Yay I'm happy to see your replies girls, happy to see others of a similar age! 😊

@Jaja92 oh wow 11 years!! Haha I imagine your body will take a little time to readjust but hopefully not too long. I've actually never been on hormonal birth control, just condoms etc. Hopefully you'll get your BFP in no time 😄

@Nam095 it's so hard isn't it! I've also had months where I've gone crazy with OPKs, and months where I've not done anything and just 'gone with the flow' and neither has worked so far 😂 I don't know which is better for me. I try to be chill and everything but when I enter the TWW I always go a bit mad with symptom spotting etc. I'm loving your positivity btw! Good luck for this cycle 💪 I'm currently on my period so will start my 5th cycle soon.

@confusedcoco So so sorry to hear about your chemical. Hopefully next month will bring better news for both of us 💕

Are you girls taking any vitamins etc or supplements?

OP posts:
Jaja92 · 05/10/2020 07:54

@confusedcoco sorry for your loss 💔

@Nam095 I am trying OPKs and temping but my positives don't match up with my temps so I have no idea whats going on! I guess my hormones are just really out of whack!

@acaciabluebell I am just taking a prenatal that contains folic acid. I got it off myvitamins, it came with good reviews so we'll see how I get on with it.
Are you taking anything?

Izzie94 · 05/10/2020 08:47

Hi lovely!

26 and TTC our first - and we’ve just started month 10 😨 same as you, I definitely didn’t think it would take this long! Even after 10 years on my pill. I’ve had 3 friends announce pregnancies in this time, and it is HARD.

I’ve tried relaxing, I’ve tried OPKS. 😅 I’ve tried not looking on mumsnet lol.

Let’s hope by the end of the year we’ve all got our BFPs x

RobinRose · 05/10/2020 09:23

Heya,

27, ttc our first together (dp has previous children) looks like af will arrive today/tomorrow so onto month 15 for us. Dp had a reversal so we new it may not be straightforward but still trying to stay hopeful.

laura214 · 05/10/2020 09:35

Good luck girls Smile I am 26, had a mc in July and due on Friday so fingers crossed! Hope you all get your BFPs Daffodil

Brightspark12 · 05/10/2020 17:07

I’m 29 so more like late 20s.. we are not actively TTC but we would be happy if it happened. We haven’t been using any protection for about 6 months now and having sex about 3 times a week. I suppose you just don’t think it’s going to take so long but apparently there’s only a small chance of getting pregnant every month. Hard not to get paranoid there is something wrong with you!

laura214 · 06/10/2020 19:55

How is everyone getting on? Where are you all in your cycles?

confusedcoco · 06/10/2020 20:15

@laura214 I'm currently day 6, so waiting gift ovulation now! I'm tracking with OPK's so should hopefully get a good idea as to when it happens 💕

How about you? X

apwilso · 06/10/2020 20:57

I want to hop on! I'm 24 in my first cycle of TTC I feel the same! Thinking some of my mates have got pregnant in a heartbeat and I wonder if the same will happen to me!🥺

Been feeling alone in the TTC world because I've not told anyone really

xWaterfallx · 06/10/2020 21:05

I'm 29 am I allowed to join?? Hanging on to my twenties 😂. I'm on CD5, TTC #1 and this will be 3rd cycle trying. Just ordered a thermometer, going to try BBT monitoring for the first time as I found it difficult last month to work out when I was ovulating. Anyone else doing BBT monitoring?

apwilso · 06/10/2020 22:56

I've just started mine not got enough readings as of yet to figure it out
Lcamsmith · 06/10/2020 23:14

Hey I'm 21 and me and DH have been trying to conceive since February, got my Implant removed in December after 5 years and I was worried about it affecting my fertility.
I know it's so hard hearing how others have got pregnant so easily it so disheartening :(
I hope you get successful soon!!
But I'm currently 6 days after AF was due so fingers crossed xx

confusedcoco · 07/10/2020 11:07

@Lcamsmith I had my implant for 6 years (had two) and then had it removed in early August this year, had AF four weeks to the date of removal and now in my 2nd Cycle of TTC. I did fall pregnant first cycle but sadly had a chemical pregnancy 😔 I have my fingers crossed for us! TTC after removal of the implant is a minefield, so many hormones settling etc it's hard to know what's AF, what's hormones and what could be pregnancy! Xx

Kirky658 · 09/10/2020 14:47

Me too! I am 26 now 27 in Feb and have been TTC for 3 cycles. I have endometriosis and had a large surgery and my coil removed ready to start TTC in the summer. X

acaciabluebell · 28/10/2020 00:47

Hey girls hope you are all doing well 😊 took a break from mumsnet as it was making me quite stressed and anxious.

I'm 7dpo today of cycle #5. Any updates from anyone??

OP posts:
Lcamsmith · 28/10/2020 09:15

Hey!
I missed my af this cycle but was just due to stress :(
My GP was testing for PCOS because she thought my cycle is unusually long (41 days) but it was clear so me and DH are quite happy there but this is cycle #9 for us.
Made the mistake of starting to watch the handmaidens tale and it's just given me the fear Shock

Izzie94 · 28/10/2020 09:20

@acaciabluebell taking a break is always good ✨ I often do that from here, to try and stop obsessing and looking too much into things!

No updates from me, AF due Saturday and currently around 12dpo 😌 tested a few days ago which I never do but I had a random test! Obviously was a bfn 😅 not holding out much hope, feel the same as normal before AF! So it’ll be onto cycle 11 for us ✨😌

@Lcamsmith glad your results were clear!! It’s crazy what a bit of stress can do to our cycles 😅 I’ve not seen that! Is it any good? Cycle 10, potentially going into 11 for us.. it’s gone quick this year all things considering haha

florencesthoughts · 29/10/2020 13:44

Hello

I'm 28 so will claim mid-20s 😂. Been with bf 12 years in December and came off my pill in August. We are not actively TTC but rather not trying not preventing. I am taking folic acid and vitamin D just incase. Just hoping to go with the flow really.

Interested in hearing people's journeys.

acaciabluebell · 29/10/2020 17:08

@Izzie94 Sorry to hear about your BFN :( How's things today? AF normally comes on 12dpo for me. I'm 8dpo today but I'll be honest I feel totally normal, nothing unusual. I had high hopes for this month but now I'm not so sure. I kinda wanted it to happen because it will have meant that I conceived pretty much bang on my 25th birthday 😂 but oh well.

OP posts:
Lcamsmith · 29/10/2020 17:32

@Izzie94 I'm hoping your bfp comes soon!! And yeah I was so hopeful cause my af is usually really regular but it was disappointing with the bfn. It's pretty good, hard to watch out your TTC tbh 😂 and yeah this year has flown by.

@acaciabluebell your bfp will come soon hopefully (fingers crossed)

On another note I don't know if you ladies feel the same but it's really disheartening when I've found out people I know have gotten pregnant without even trying? Like sometimes it just gets me so down 😟 anyway since my af never appeared it's now due 11/11

acaciabluebell · 29/10/2020 17:44

@Lcamsmith Yes it really does get me down. There's so many people in my life right now who are pregnant by 'surprise' or that they stopped the pill and immediately got pregnant without even getting a period. I've never used hormonal birth control (only condoms) and literally jumping my husband every other day for months lol and I'm still struggling to get pregnant.

The thing that annoys me the most these days is when people make blanket statements like 'in your 20s you will fall pregnant at the drop of a hat'... Well clearly not or we wouldn't be here!!

I guess the good thing is that we've started trying early, so if there are complications we have like an entire decade or more to keep trying lol. Two decades in some cases 😂 Let's hope it doesn't come to that!

OP posts:
acaciabluebell · 29/10/2020 17:48

@apwilso welcome, I know it's hard not telling anyone. I also haven't told anyone I'm TTC. I know they would have too many expectations and I don't know when I would be able to give them the good news. So I just use mumsnet to discuss TTC things pretty much 😊 how's things going for you?
