TTC after Mirena - anyone else?

Hi,

I am on month 3 of TTC after having my coil removed in the summer.

I have 2 DC already and thought I was done but we decided to have one last go before I'm the wrong side of 40.

I haven't been checking ovulation yet but have just bought some Internet cheapies as not sure how quickly ovulation returns after removal with Mirena.

Would love to know if anyone else is on a similar journey!

You can get pregnant straight away on the Mirena. I had an ultrasound when mine was removed. I was due to ovulate 3 days later based on follicle size. Technically you can get pregnant just by taking it out if there is any sperm hanging about. I do think it skewed my cycle personally though as my luteal phase was super short that month. AF is here atm, holy fuck I forgot how shit proper periods are. I used to think of myself as having a 4 month cycle where 3/4 my periods are ok and 1/4 I get D and V.

God that sounds grumpy. Sorry OP!

Iv got a 2 month old baby who was conceived about 3 weeks after my Mirena came out so for me things returned quickly! Good luck!!

@PurBal I agree about the periods. So much heavier and painful. Are you TTC too? I was 32 when I had my first and fell pregnant quickly and no 2 came as soon as I stopped bfing but I'm older now and had the Mirena for 5 years so concerned it might have affected my cycle as well as just the decline with age.

Congratulations @Poodlessitonnoodles! Hope you're enjoying your lovely baby Flowers

I waited 6 months before TTC (nothing specifically to do with Mirena, just life) and had gone into the most regular, predictable cycle I've ever had. Before Mirena I had never had a regular cycle. Conceived in the first month of trying and now 11 weeks pregnant. 😊

Yes. TTC #1 at 30. I obviously hope it doesn't take too long but we shall see. I had my mirena out in the summer.

ShinyBadger · 03/10/2020 09:55

I had 2 mirena's so 10 years of a happy period free life :)
I had it out a year ago and been TTC since. I am 37 though and over weight so the odds are down already. Took about 12 weeks to get my first period and then have been regular with a 25 day cycle since. Had an early loss in March and since then whilst the cycles are 25 days i do not think i have been ovulating even though i have been using clear blue ov sticks.
From this month onwards until the new year i am not going to do any tracking and just try to forget about it all and see what happens. If nothing happens then i will go to the Gp as i am old ( ha ha)!

I have mirenas in for 15 years with one break after the first 2 years when I conceived straight away. I’m on cycle 4 now and 38. My periods have been very light and short so far and I definitely think having it for so long and not ovulating has meant my body is taking time to return to normal. I am old though and overweight so could be that too! I seem to have returned to a regular cycle now though but just worried it’s been light. I took soy isoflavones last cycle to try it boost ov and it seemed to work as although I didn’t get pregnant I had a more normal length period. 🤞🏻 for you!

LaceyMermaid · 03/10/2020 10:55

Oh and I meant to say I’ve been checking ov with taking my temps and it does look as though I am ovulating. I decided I didn’t have time to waste and wanted to see if I was functioning properly!

Kirky658 · 03/10/2020 16:21

I had my mirena removed in June during an endometriosis surgery. We are TTC our first, I'm 26 😊 so far periods have been lighter than before and fairly regular 26-30 day cycle. Hoping to conceive soonish!!

VTechnophobe · 03/10/2020 23:32

Wow! There are more of us out there than I expected. Sending positive vibes to you all 🤞

@PurBal I hope you get a bfp soon. Are you tracking ovulation?

@ShinyBadger @LaceyMermaid It sounds like the 3 of us are very similar in age. I'm also a bit overweight although have lost 1.5 stone since July in the hope it will help. I don't even know if I've ovulated yet and my periods are really heavy.

@Kirky658 I hope your surgery was successful and you aren't getting pain from your endo. Hoping you get good news soon too!

Well done on the 1.5 stone loss! I’m being useless on weight loss at the moment despite promising myself every Monday to lose weight!

Morning ladies was going to do a new post but thought I would try you first 😊 over the weekend we DTD and I experienced a tiny bit of brown spotting, and again this morning. I had a mild bit of pain too. I am due to ovulate towards the end of this week. Have any of you had anything similar? Wondering if it is still the coil settling down...

LaceyMermaid · 05/10/2020 20:29

@Kirky658 I should think it probably is just a bit of settling down. Important to check it out with gp if it continues regularly though
