Anyone trying SMEP?

Hey folks

On cycle 4, BFN all previous cycles.

We’re attempting SMEP this cycle. Has anyone tried it? Anyone trying it?

Peak yesterday so 3 days in a row to go now!

I did this last month! I’m 15dpo today! I’m going to wait a couple days to see if AF turns up though and then test. I had BFN on 12dpo big tryinh to remain hopeful. Good luck with it! Enjoy all the BD’ing!

Hey @namechangeTTC we have tried it and using and amended version!

We gave it a whirl and didn't catch on using it the first cycle. So we then altered it do just do it every day from day 8 until a couple days post peak and we got PG. Sadly, we had a missed miscarried in July. We have just given the amended version a go again for the first time and are in the TTW. Testing on Sunday - smidge early as I am due on on Wednesday but hubby is away all next week and if my period is late I won't be able to wait for him to come home next Friday to test!

Did you both do the 3 days from peak method?

I don’t have a high sex drive. 8 days in a row last month nearly killed me.

Thank you! Yeah did 3 days in a row- was a bit strange planning it like that but we are both desperate to conceive after 6 months of trying. The only thing we didn’t do was skip a day then BD again... we had to skip 2 days 😄. Hoping it didn’t mess things up. Good luck to you!

Ugh I couldn’t wait and tested... BFN :( now just got to wait for AF to show her face.

We tried it this month, did it twice in run up to ov, day before left it, was ready on ov day and DH turned me down and I was seething 😡 feel like we've wasted a month. Next month going to aim for day before and day of ov.

Keep googling chances of conception if BD 3 days before ov but in all honesty I don't hold out much hope! I'm 6dpo right now.

I may have marked the calendar and told him we needed to. I don’t need a performance I need the goods!!

@namechangeTTC your last message made me lol! That's exactly what it's like if you done it every day for a week, by day 5 its just a matter of getting the job done 😂

Hi guys. We’re on our week of TTC! We’re planning on dtd every other day then now I’m in predicted fertile window will try everyday and just see what happens! As it’s our first cycle trying i haven’t done and ovulation tests or anything and just seeing how it goes for now x

Hi @purpleflowers21 ❤️ All appendages crossed for you 🤞🏼 we started out that way, but you soon give in to the temptation of peeing on a stick! 😂 if you do decide to go down that avenue, I use the cheapy Amazon strip ovulation tests and they work perfectly well. So you don't have to spend mega bucks 👍🏻 xx

@Wils85 oh I can definitely see myself giving in haha. I just don’t want to become too obsessed. Maybe if we’re not successful this cycle I will do it next. As this is my first cycle off the pill I don’t even know if I will ovulate or not. Thanks for the tip I’ll bare them in mind xx

I did SMEP for 5 cycles last year and now have a 4 month old sleeping on me (about bloody time) so it does work!

I also took evening primrose oil (not after ovulation though) which I think helped.

@purpleflowers21 it's so hard not to become a little preoccupied (shall we say) with TTC. I did ok for a couple months and then we were full on trying, ovulation tests, legs in the air sex, the works 😂

We did it on CD6, 7, and 9 then I got my peak on the clear blue ovulation tests on Thursday (CD11) and Friday (CD12) so aimed to dtd Thursday Friday and Saturday. Missed Saturday as my partner and I got engaged that day (yay) so did it Sunday morning at 2:30am after multiple bottles of Prosecco 😂😂 and then Monday too.
Not sure how I feel about it this month but will keep my fingers crossed and start again next cycle if we aren’t so lucky. Trying to take a relaxed approach this month.

We did it the 3 times we TTC (2 successful pregnancies, 1 didn't work out). Worked first time for us, each time DH was so fed up of sex afterwards. But now we have 2 DC he looks back fondly on those 3 sex filled months

I think we’ve done a successful smep cycle so far going on the website. Started at cd8, 10, peak on 12 so 12, 13, 14. Having today off then one more tomorrow.

Last cycle we did 8 in a row and it was a slog.
