I know that you should DTD on ovulation day and a few days after. However, what if you have sex the day before ovulation?

Yes you can, sperm lives for up to 5 days but the egg only 24-48 hours ish.

I'm pretty sure that the optimal time to conceive is BD 2 days prior to O. So ideally, BD day 1, + OPK day 2, actual ovulation on day 3. Once an egg is released it's only viable for 12 hours (IIRC).

Yes, definitely - the week up to ovulation day is actually your most fertile time. If you're TTC, you want the sperm already in the and waiting.
If you don't want TC, you need emergency contraception.

Anyone using the CB ovulation test?

My OPK has a static smiley the day after having sex. Does that mean I've managed to catch it at the right time?

If you have a static smiley then I'd DTD today, tomorrow and day after just incase.

Won't be DTD until weekend unfortunately!
