Do OPKs get darker the closer to ovulation?

Basically that. First month using opks. I have long irregular cycles and currently on day 17 and the tests have practically no second line at all. Should I expect them to get darker the closer I get to ovulation?

Hey OP! Yes they should, the test line should become as dark as, or darker than the control line to determine a positive result 💓

Yes, that's how they work. They get darker and darker until the test line is as dark as the control line which means you've had a LH surge and will ovulate in the next 12-36 hours.

I find the clear blue digital tests much easier to read as it's just a blank smiley face, flashing smiley face or static smiley face

@premum1 did you test twice a day or just once?

I began once a day and as I saw it getting darker I did morning and night xx

These strips are getting me a little confused!
Last night I took one and there was barely a line on it but I thought I could see the mesh poking out from underneath so just in case it was due I took another but got loss pee this time (sorry tmi) and there was a line on it. It wasn't a positive but a lot darker than the first one even though this was exactly the same time just a more concentrated sample. What's that all about! Makes me mistrust them!
