Multiple ovulation??

Hello everyone,

I'm new here so hope I'm posting this in the right place!

I've had strange symptoms this cycle, convinced I must have ovulated multiple times. So CD14 (assuming this means cycle day?) I had sharp pain in the lower left abdomen followed by aching. CD15 no pain at all. CD16 more sharp pain on lower left side followed by aches. I'm now CD19 and the aches and twinges have continued everyday on lower left side. So pretty sure I ovulated on day 14, 16 and possibly another day.

I've trawled the internet reading about ovulation pain and it's not supposed to last this long or stop and start again.

This is my second cycle since coming off the pill (combined pill for 4 years then mini pill for 1 month) so it is possible that I'm experiencing hyperovulation.

What do you think? Anyone else experienced ovulation pain that lasts 5/6 days and has days off inbetween?

It's hard to know what those feelings actually are. It's hard to go 'yep ovulation pain' and know for sure it is, only one of those times would have been pain from an egg being released and if they all felt the same/similar it'll be hard for you to know which was 'it'.
It's normal to cramp in the tww. It's also annoyingly common to think you've ovulated but actually your body didn't ovulate until later - keep this in mind if your period is 'late' but you get a BFN (hopefully that won't happen but it's normal if it does 😊).
I get 'ovulation pain' about four days before I actually ovulate and then a sharper 'ovulation pain' on the day I actually ovulate. I have PCOS though so don't know if that's normal!

Mainly I just came to say if you did 'ovulate twice' the second egg would be released within 24 hours of the first one. It's apparently otherwise impossible to ovulate a second time in one cycle. Can't remember the exact signs - the hormones that get released after ovulation prevent further ovulation? Something like that.

I've never heard of hyperovulation being caused by coming off of the pill - I would think it unlikely that it caused that or the majority of people would experience it 😊

Goodluck!

Thanks for your reply Smile, apparently hyperovulation can be caused when stopping birth control because your body's hormones are going haywire and have to reset and that process can mean over producing in the first few cycles.

Yes you're right it is impossible to know exactly what the pains mean, I'm probably just wishful thinking!

Will test in 6 days time, fingers crossed! x

Unless you are testing with OPKs then you won't know if you are really having multiple surges or just feeling something. I've had multiple surges in the past (2/3 in a month) and apparently the final surge before your AF is the one you ovulate, but I was never able become pregnant those cycles.

Ovulating more than once in a cycle is extremely unlikely. I'm 6 months off the pill and in my first couple of cycles off I had lots of odd twinges etc but wasn't ovulation related as I was charting BBT and using OPKs
