Ladies,
I am currently 29 years old and trying for baby number one.
I track my cycle so I know when AF is due & looking back at the last 3 months she has always been on time. However this month I am 2 days late.
My nerves are now completely shot as I want to test but I’m so anxious it will come back negative and leave me devastated. At what point did you all test positive?
The OH says we should wait a week which sounds like a good plan but it will be a long one as this is all I can think about!
Any advice on when to test & which tests are the best would be amazing!!

Many women get their bfp before their period is due, the very early tests such as first response or clear blue early, only problem is it can be a chemical pregnancy The cheap test strips ic will also do the job if you like to test a lot but best to use a branded test to confirm, I'm 11dpo and have had a faint positive but I won't believe it until I'm actually late.

If your 2 days late and your certain that you are because you've tracked your cycle then the test will be 99% accurate no need to wait another nail biting week.

If your late and pregnant there will most defo be a line, I got my bfp this time at 10dpo etc. However please be aware that ttc can do strange things to your af and a longer cycle here and there is not that uncommon often as ovulation can be delayed through stress/illness etc. Ttc is a process that can sometimes take quite a while so if you test and it is negative don't fret, it'll happen at some point x

As a total POAS, I think you have determination of steel to wait until you are 2 days late! I would test with FMU tomorrow morning... Good luck!

ER20 · 24/09/2020 07:01

I was 10 days late until I got my BFP, everyday leading up to that was a BFN.

BeckyHughes · 24/09/2020 10:37

Thank you!
I’m thinking of testing Saturday if I get there without AF.
We have not been actively trying this month so I wonder if the fact that I have been more chilled out (we were actually on holiday) has worked in our favour.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed but I’m so nervous!

Test ! Test ! Test ! Lol in all seriousness though i don't think you need to wait , if your period is always constant it will show up if you are now xxx

So...
Today I tested (6 days late)
I got a faint positive on a Clearblue but a negative on First Response
I’m so confused and my emotions are everywhere! Confused

That’s tough OP, I’m sorry
Have a look at the box/instructions but I think the FRER is more sensitive, which may mean that the Clearblue is an evaporation line. Did you use the same urine sample for both tests? If you did the Clearblue with first morning urine and the FRER after, your urine may have been more concentrated when you did the Clearblue test.
Other possibilities are a sadly a chemical or that you ovulated late and this is an early positive.
Nothing much you can do but test again or wait for AF... I suppose you could see your GP and ask for bloods too if you are really worried...

BeckyHughes · 28/09/2020 07:28

@Waiting4another
So the Clearblue was a dip of my morning wee however the FR was peeing on the stick later in the afternoon and I don’t think I did a good job with keeping it in my stream.
I think I’m going to try and hold out for a little longer. I have a pregnancy app which says that if I am around 3 weeks that the baby will only now be implanting so it could also be too early to test.
Why is this so complicated?!

Oh and FYI today my period is 7 days late

Waiting4another · 28/09/2020 13:06

If you are 7 days late for your period you would be 5 weeks pregnant now, not 3. The first two weeks of your cycle are counted even though those are pre-conception. Implantation takes place at the end of week 3 or approximately a week after ovulation/conception. So 2 weeks ago for you now if you ovulated around day 14 of your cycle.
By 5 weeks you should have a reasonably strong positive, but you may have ovulated late.
First morning urine will give you a stronger result usually than your afternoon wee.
In terms of testing, best to pee in a cup instead of doing a test mid-stream.
Your HCG levels in a healthy pregnancy should double every 48 hours, so if you retest 48 hours after your faint positive with first morning urine you should have a stronger line if you have a healthy pregnancy.
If the line isn’t getting stronger, it may be a chemical and you will soon get your period. If you still don’t have your period, but also don’t have a positive test, see your GP to rule out an ectopic pregnancy just in case.

Omg sending you loads and loads of luck, I went for an appointment with my health care team, they said there was a very faint positive on my test and needed to come back in a week (which is what I’m doing), my clear blue test I took the other day said positive but the pink line tests keep saying negative, so I’m really confused myself!! I’m 4 days away from AF thinking it might be too early but ever since they have told me I’m super super eager to find out Confused x
