Hi ladies,

I just got my BFP!!!!!! Amazing but I have spent Friday & yesterday drinking - as in wine/cocktails and even had a glass of wine at lunch today. I feel so awful!!!!! Will I have ruined anything? Xx

Don’t feel awful I did this on my daughter and she’s a happy healthy 10 year old xx

I found I was pregnant the night after my Christmas party where I'd had prosecco, cocktails, shots and even a couple of cigarettes! He's a healthy 5 year old now! Try not to worry and just enjoy your BFP!

Don't feel bad. I drank a lot in my two week wait. I had a serious hangover when I POAS! DD is here and perfect. Stop drinking now until at least your second trimester, and then of course only drink in serious moderation (I know others will say not at all. I had a rule that I was allowed champagne on special occasions).

Congratulations!

Thank you so much ladies. That’s very reassuring!! Smile

Can't remember the science but I'm sure that it's not until 8 weeks or so that what you consume goes anywhere near the embryo

@Willowfalls this is years ago because I'm 33, but my mum found out she was pregnant with me because she went to the doctors with what she tought was alcohol positioning from going so hard she genuinely thought i was a 48hour hangover!
And I turned out jsut fine 🙂
Honestly all the research shows there is no evidence at all it does any harm!
Massive congratulations x

I know so many ladies that have done the same and have gorgeous, healthy kids! Until week 8 or so the foetus uses the yolk sac for nourishment and not the placenta, so I think it's fairly separate from what you're eating/drinking at this point :)

Chocolatealllllday · 20/09/2020 20:11

I found out I was pregnant the day after a very boozy Xmas party Grin all fine here. I read that it takes around 5 weeks for the baby to actually fully attach and take things from your placenta.

I found out I was pregnant at 19 and I was a uni student and had most definitely not been sober. Not planned at all and didn’t find out until I questioned why my period hadn’t arrived. I never really tracked it so I just had a thought that I hadn’t had one for a while. I must have been about 7-8 weeks pregnant. I don’t drink anymore but, when I did, it was for the sole purpose of getting drunk.

Pressed post too soon...

DD is now a happy, healthy 6yo.

ChelseaCat · 20/09/2020 20:32

Congratulations!

Don’t worry - I did exactly the same thing and all was well.

Willowfalls · 20/09/2020 21:44

I found out I was pregnant 2 days after my 21st birthday - the weekend before that was my best friends 21st so I drank a lot over week before my BFP (I also smoked prior to finding out I was pregnant). I felt awful, but my DD is now 10 and absolutely fine 😁

ivfbeenbusy · 20/09/2020 22:11

Don't worry about it - my only successful pregnancy before having 5 miscarriages and 2 ectopics (I'm finally pregnant again) was the one where i tested the day before my period and it was a BFN so drowned my sorrows in a LOT of gin and also went to a theme park and rode all the roller coasters (not at the same time as the gin though!) and the next day I got a BFP

Janefx40 · 20/09/2020 22:19

Do you know the expression OP ( that I learnt on Mumsnet) "drink til it's pink". Ie you can drink until you get a positive pregnancy test! Not sure how scientific that is but am pretty sure that they don't get any of the alcohol that early on!

Congrats on a strong BFP!

Willowfalls · 21/09/2020 05:40

Congrats and you're fine. Weekend before my BFP I hosted a Eurovision party. A lot was drunk by me. Baby is now 3 and a half and doing well
