Light periods following miscarriage

I had a MMC in May at 12 weeks, and my periods have returned to a 30 day cycle since then, but are much lighter.

Everything I've read said that it takes time for a cycle to reset after miscarriage and anything is 'normal' for up to six months following, but I'm concerned that the light flow (it feels about half of what it used to be) is a sign of a poor uterine lining and could affect implantation.

It could also be stress as I've been super-stressed about conceiving again.

Does anyone know about this, and are there any ways to improve the uterine lining?

Sorry no words of wisdom here but just bumping for you.

I had a mmc discovered in May and took until July for completion, now nearly 10 weeks later and still no AF.

@TTCROYGBIV, so sorry for you. I hated waiting for my body to get back to normal and was so relieved to see my period when it came. It seems like everyone's body recovers differently but it's so hard waiting and not feeling yourself in the meantime.
I hope your cycle returns soon.

Hi @sweetpea2000. Sorry for your loss. I had a MC in June. Since then periods have been incredibly light. More like a heavier spotting and only lasting two days. I also had another loss this month as a chemical but even then I had two days of very very light bleeding and one day of slightly heavier, but still light bleeding. I’m worried about the uterus lining too but doctors don’t seem interested at the moment. I’m just trying trying to stay positive and focus on eating healthy and hope it just corrects itself. Good luck!! X

This was the same for me and I also worried. My luteal phase was also shorter than usual for a few cycles. Then I had a normal cycle length and heavier period one month and conceived the next! So I think it just takes a while to sort itself out again.xx

I had a mc at 9 weeks back in January, and have had 2 chemicals since then. Since the January mc my periods have gone from 4 days with heavy to medium flow bleeding to 2-3 days max and only light bleeding, never fully filling a tampon.

As I’ve now been ttc for a year and had recurrent losses we were referred and I’ve had all sorts of tests and scans done with a fertility specialist which were all normal.

I mentioned the much lighter periods since the mc but she wasn’t worried and after my latest scan to look at the condition of my uterus she said everything looked great and as it should do. So I’m assuming it’s nit an issue. But like you I can’t help that think that mot much blood loss means not much of a lining to be shedding.

@sweetpea2000 I had a MMC last year following which I had an ERPC. Since then my periods have been really light - I used to have 5 full days of bleeding, starting off heavy and then tapering off. Now I barely get 3 days of bleeding and it is MUCH lighter and I have been worried about it. However I am an IVF patient so my lining has been regularly scanned, during which they actually take measurements of the lining and the consultant isn't at all worried. Says it is normal.
