Is it possible I could get pregnant?

Hi all!

Ive been wondering if anything like this has happened to anybody else.

Me and my partner have agreed to start trying for our 2nd baby, we had unprotected sex 2 days ago. I’m due on my period later this week but my cycle isn’t the most regular usually around 30-34 days.

What I was wanting to know is if I am pregnant (I know ovulation might possibly have already occurred for me), would I skip the period that is due this week or would I skip the month after? I’m presuming I cannot take a test now?

Has anybody had sex a few days before their period and still got pregnant?

My partner works away for periods at a time so it’s not possible for us to constantly be doing it 😊

Thanks in advance X

If you were pregnant already, you wouldn’t have a period this week.

I would say it’s highly unlikely you’re pregnant though unless you ovulate late in your cycle.

If you had unprotected sex then there’s always a chance you could be pregnant, although if your period is due in a couple of days then it’s unlikely. You would skip this period if you were pregnant so leave it until you’re ‘late’ then take a test.

You need to work out when your fertile window is because you can only get pregnant if you have sex in the few days when it's possible for sperm to encounter an egg.

If you've already ovulated before sex then unless it's the next day, you'll be too late. The egg is only viable for 24 hours or so.

It's better to have second before ovulation. The sperm can live for up to 5 days.

*sex not second

Hi guys. Can I jump on please and ask some advice.. I am new here and trying for a baby

I am day 40 of my cycle. Normal days run about 35 to 40 is and sometime 45. Always with cramps and pains a week before.

However this month, I have large sore nipples and full breasts. No cramping to say AF is on way which I always, always get. I have felt tired and having some headaches.

Could it be my month.. I am trying not to get hopes up. Any advice would be great.. Thanks xx

@Smallville82

Do you know when you ovulated? It could be your month and if you are more than 9dpo, I’d suggest taking a test.

Smallville82 · 14/09/2020 20:49

On my tracker it says between 23rd and 29th Aug. However I am aware that may not be accurate..

I have never known how to check my ovulation days/times.

Can’t trust the apps to be accurate unfortunately. You can use ovulation prediction kits, temping and checking your cervical mucus. Or all three.
