Hi guys. I’m just coming to the end of my final pill packet. We’re planning on TTC next year so just wanted time to let my body get back to normal etc. Just wondering which apps everyone recommends for tracking everything? Smile

I use two - Clue and Ovia. Clue is always pretty accurate for me but they have started withdrawing some features unless you pay so I have just started to use Ovia. They have a lot more fields where you can input data and it sometimes gives insights into what it means, so I’m preferring Ovia now

I would recommend getting the clear blue digital ovulation sticks and then recording the results in your app, rather than relying on the app to predict ovulation. I used flo initially on its own and wasn’t conceiving. Then started clear blue and realised I was ovulating with five/six days difference compared to flo’s prediction!!

Chanel05 · 12/09/2020 08:32

I used fertility friend but I wouldn't just rely on an app really. Get some internet cheapie opks off Amazon I think they are around £6 for 50 and you can use those alongside your app. Your cycles can be all over the show for up to a year after stopping the pill so it's not uncommon to have much longer cycles or no af at all for a few months. Good luck !

Pinkiii · 12/09/2020 08:34

I would recommend FLO, concieved my first and now my 2nd pregnancy using that app. It would depend on your cycle, if you’re fairly regular then it would be a good one I think.

Purpleflowers21 · 12/09/2020 10:09

Thanks everyone for the replies so far, I’ve already downloaded FLO so I’ll use that at first then go from there. I guess at first I’m really just wanting to track my periods as they hopefully regulate then can look at ovulation xx

Hi!

I am going to take my last pill tomorrow with a plan to start trying from December. There are so many apps I'm equally so confused! A lot need you to take your temperature...not sure if these are more accurate?

Are you planning on using condoms until you start TTC?

X

Purpleflowers21 · 12/09/2020 16:43

@AMS19 I don’t think I’m going to do the temperature thing at first, don’t won’t to become too obsessed too soon haha.
Yeah we’ll use condoms, I do feel a bit nervous about this as I’ve been on the pill for about 12 years so do feel a bit worried that the condominium might fail, obviously wouldn't be a disaster as that is the eventual goal haha but I don’t want to be pregnant on my wedding day as I’ve already got my dress etc. Will you just be using condoms too? X

That was ment to say condom not condominium haha

Hi @Purpleflowers21 i'm the same. Finished last bcp last week now waiting on my usual period that I get on my pill and then using condoms. Hopefully ttc next july. Bit nervous as well as i've been on bcp for about 20 years except when ttc 8 years ago.
Last time I used Fertility friend so i've downloaded that again, i've also downloaded My Calender, Flo and Ovia to see which one I like best then i'll delete the rest lol

AMS19 · 12/09/2020 18:45

@Purpleflowers21 yeah we are going to use condoms for a month, not really try in Oct and Nov then start trying properly in December.

I am gonna try the temp and ovulation sticks during the next couple of months just to try and see what is going on. But agree, I already feel obsessed 🤦‍♀️😂 x

AMS19 · 12/09/2020 18:48

@Purpleflowers21 also huge congratulations on the wedding! We are actually using out of date condoms (ha!) Because we had some left from 5 years ago before I took the pill. But I'm relaxed really, would rather get pregnant in December but not the end of the world!

Purpleflowers21 · 12/09/2020 19:00

@Minnie123456 it just seems such a long time since we’ve used condone haha. So are you ttc your 2nd? I say I’m not going to try all those things but I bet I change my mind when the time comes! X

@AMS19 December will be here before we know it! Will this be your first? X

AMS19 · 12/09/2020 19:50

@Purpleflowers21yes my first! Im 32, nearly 33, and my husband is 34. We did plan to travel south america first but covid put a stop to that and we just decided to get on with it and see what happens. But I do have a cruise in May, hence the slight delay. When is the wedding? X

Purpleflowers21 · 12/09/2020 20:53

@AMS19 I’ll be 31 when we start ttc, our first too. Wedding is April so will try from then. Where you going on your cruise? X

ShinyBadger · 12/09/2020 20:54

I have been TTC for a year - no such luck, I had a miscarriage in March and haven’t had a proper cycle since - you may be lucky and be cycle 1- it make take ages.
I use Flo And clear blue ovulation sticks and recently thought about temping and have downloaded fertility friend. But think Flo is my fav app to use and accurate online with the ovulation sticks.

AMS19 · 12/09/2020 21:06

@Purpleflowers21 ahhh so exciting! April is perfect as hopefully everything will have calmed down by then covid wise 🤞

Cruise is just around Europe for a week. But you can't fly after 35 weeks so I really can't get pregnant before Oct/Nov time.

I am still not sure i feel totally ready but with everything going on in the world now feels the right time to start trying! X

AMS19 · 12/09/2020 21:08

@ShinyBadger I'm so so sorry to hear your journey. I do genuinely believe in fate though and when you have your beautiful baby it will all make sense x

Purpleflowers21 · 12/09/2020 21:22

@ShinyBadger so sorry that you went through that. I really hope things with out for you soon x

@AMS19 yeah hoping things will be more normal by then! I know what you mean but everyone always says there’s never a perfect time! Things are starting to feel real now I’ve only got a week of my pill left like haha x

OP posts:
AMS19 · 12/09/2020 21:58

@Purpleflowers21 eeek! Tomorrow is my last pill. Keep me updated on how your body responds. I'm so interested to see how/if my cycle snaps back into action. After 7 years I'm not that hopeful x

Minnie123456 · 12/09/2020 22:33

@Purpleflowers21 not ttc #2 until about July next year, will be about an 8 or 9 year age gap between dc1 & #2 if all goes to plan. I will also be a lot older lol.
Using the apps just to track cycles atm as I was irregular when not taking bcp and cycles where quite long. Looking to track ovulation as well as I might avoid dtd around that time just incase the condom doesn't work lol.

Purpleflowers21 · 13/09/2020 11:29

@AMS19 my last one will be next Sunday so your a week ahead of me haha. Let me know how it goes too! X

@Minnie123456 aw that will be a nice age gap though. I can’t really remember my cycles before the pill as it was about 12 years ago but I think they were pretty regular so fingers crossed they will be again x

ShinyBadger · 13/09/2020 11:50

@AMS19 and @Purpleflowers21 for your kind messages. It’s a case of what will be will be, I have always said I never wanted children adamant infact and our whole life, the house, cars and life style is not set up for children at all. Then for the past year that’s all I have wanted.

I had two coils then had to have a letz for abnormal cells so after that said I would have a break from any form of contraception, the hormones are insane!!. All I am saying is don’t expect it to just happen - it May happen straight away and your be lucky or it might not - I am older and spent all those years not getting pregnant- hindsight is a wonderful thing!

AMS19 · 13/09/2020 14:11

@ShinyBadger I think the fear of struggling has made me start earlier than I would have. Pre covid the plan was to start trying early 2022. But covid has taught me you cannot plan for anything in life so it is best to just get on with it and adjust. We are also career focused and go on lots of very nice holidays, and have a penthouse flat so no house to offer a baby. But I guess we will still have amazing experiences jsut different ones. This will happen for you when the time is right. I honestly believe that. Then we can complain about the lack of money we have to stay in nice places 😂😂
