Fertility Acupuncture

Hi Ladies, I am currently in my tww of cycle 5 of ttc my second child. I have a nearly 3 year old daughter. I decided once I got to 6 months of trying I wanted to try something new to maybe help us. I have made my first appointment for fertility acupuncture for a few weeks time (this will obviously be cancelled if I have caught this month). I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience of fertility acupuncture and what I should expect? I will be having 4 sessions in the first cycle at different stages (I cannot remember what the other stages are other than the first one at the beginning of my cycle and I think one around ovulation).
If anyone has any advice, tips, personal experiences they can share with me I would be interested and grateful to read them. Thank you in advance ☺️

HI @ThinnerByDinner

I had acupuncture on cycle 14 and got my positive after 4 sessions. May be a coincidence but either way it was relaxing.

The needles were mainly in my stomach with one in each ear and one in each foot. They are so thin they didn't hurt they just felt like a tiny tap. I then had 2 attached to these electrode things which made my stomach vibrate ever so slightly but I soon got used to it and then couldn't feel it (not sure if every acupuncturist uses this) a hot lamp was then put over the needles to warm them up. Also didn't hurt. Would then lie there for half an hair. Listening to relaxing music.

They should ask you lots of questions about your cycle to tailor the treatment to you. Mine was to stop my pre AF spotting.

If you want to know anything else let me know.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it. Do you remember at what point in your cycle your sessions were? I’ve got my first one for when I am due to come on my period, the second one I’m sure she said something about being around the time of ovulation (I usually get my peak on day 15 on OPKs) and I’m actually away CD12-CD15 with my husband and daughter so I’m not sure if that will mess the acupuncture session up. I’ve emailed my acupuncturist to tell her but I don’t suppose you remember?

Thanks again 😊

I always suggest acupuncture for anything women/hormone related. It’s got a great track record in this field.

My own acupuncturist (near Glasgow /Stirling) specialises in this and has had lots of people who previously had a history of mc’s go on with her help through needles to have successful full term pregnancies. Including older patients apparently.

She has successfully treated my peri-menopausal hormones and period problems. She can start or stop periods immediately. It’s amazing. She understands womens cycles and what she says I can see reflected in my fitbit data - id no idea my pulse changed with hormones during my cycle!

Good luck OP. Flowers

@ThinnerByDinner I had it cycle day 3, 7, 17 (which was day of my peak OPK) I usually ovulate day after the peak but I swear what ever she did may have made me ovulate that day as I had right sided pain near my ovary. Then 7DPO. To be fair it just happened to fall on them days as she wanted to sort my pre AF spotting out over a couple of months. I got my positive 11 DPO x
