Hi everyone. A week back I had my D&c done, two days after I developed fever and ended up in hospital for 2 days with IV antibiotics and pain killers and was diagnosed with endometritis. The fever went down and was sent home I still have bleeding/clots and some pain in abdomen. Prescribed Augmentin duo forte for 5 more days.

I have a few questions, please please help me out.

Has anyone been through this after their D&c?
Did the infection cleared up soon after your course of antibiotic?
Did you conceive after the endometritis? I really want to start trying again after my period.

Thank you so much!

Hi @Amythest77. I had endometritis after a MMC. I opted for natural management though not a D&C - ironically due to a lower risk of infection. I was seen in A&E as my temp was 38.8 and given antibiotics. It took a few days for them to kick in, but I did start feeling better with them and a course of antiemetics to stop the vomiting. I haven't conceived again yet but we are trying again now. It took a while following the MC for my cycles to get back to normal. Sending love and hope you conceive again soon as I absolutely get this.

@Wearenotyourkind Thank you so much for your reply.
I’m so sorry for you loss, sending you all the baby dust, praying we conceive soon ❤️
I wanted to go for the medical management but I was already 13 weeks 4 days and was scared if I might end up needing D&c anyway and I was not ready to go for two traumas so chose D&c.
Was reading up on some groups about how they had to go for two rounds of antibiotics to clear up the infection but there’s were apparently a chronic type that showed no symptoms and was discovered via biopsy.
Really hoping mine clears up so I could start trying again once I get my first period 😩
How was your first period like after the D&c? Is it supposed to be heavy and painful?

Hi @Amythest77, I had a miscarriage at the end of June and had a d&c with a hysteroscopy in early July. They found some endometriosis and removed a polyp all of which would have contributed to the miscarriage. Endometriosis is however incurable so this wasn’t a good find. It is still possible to conceive but miscarriages are more likely. I have conceived again this month and so am praying this one sticks and stays. I’m not sure if your endometritis is different and will go completely, let’s hope so.
Sorry for all you’ve gone through, praying all goes well for you.

Sorry I guess I’m not fully awake yet! It’s early. I should have read your headline more carefully. So glad you dont have endometriosis.
I hope things look up for you soon

Congratulations on your BFP @LittleTiger007 💗

@Amythest77 thank you - so sorry for your loss too 💕 do you think it'd be helpful to speak to GP if you are concerned the infection isn't clearing up? My cycles were messed up for a while after the MC, but thankfully think I'm now having a normal one and last AF was normal for me. I think the MC can affect women and their cycles differently though.
