What prevents conception?

I've tried to Google this but haven't had much luck.

What can prevent conception in cases where both partners have no fertility issues? I just wondered why some people have to try for months before a positive test, and why there was no conception even if they DTD during the fertile window. It seems peculiar if they then manage to get a positive a few months later - what stops conception in those other months?

Soaps make conception seem to easy, so I would like to have realistic expectations before TTC.

I don’t know but it’s a great question so will follow for any advice

There is only a 20 per cent chance on average of conception in any given month, even for couples with no issues doing everything right. Could be this, or bad luck, timing is out, sperm isn't in right place at right time, woman doesn't ovulate at the time she expects to, or conception occurs but not implantation. So many possible reasons.

-egg quality
-sperm quality
-chromosome issues

  • lining thickness
  • progesterone/estrogen levels
  • auto immune issues

The timing isn't always quite right (some women ovulate at different times each month, some sperm live longer than others). Implantation may not be successful. It's not so much 'what went wrong' as 'there are lots of stages in the process, did they all go right?'.

There are lots of factors as written above. Men need to wear light fitting pants and not use a laptop on their lap! Sounds crazy but overheating doesn’t help. Also cut out toothpaste with fluoride. It inhibits fertility. If you watch murder mysteries such a ncis they have murders caused by toothpaste slipped into food etc. But even in you are careful not to swallow it the fluoride can make people infertile.

Sorry above should say NOT wear tight fitting pants! 😣

hilarious!

You'd have to eat an ENTIRE tube of toothpaste in one sitting to be at risk of poisoning 🤣🤣

I've had fertility issues for nigh on 6 years and 5 rounds of IVF discussed with countless specialists and I can 100% tell you that fluoride has never been discussed as Inhibiting fertility

In fact If I eliminated fluoride from our lives that's actually a sure fire way NOT to conceive as DH and I would certainly go off each other if we had manky teeth 🤣

LittleTiger007 · 07/09/2020 16:46

I don’t have even one filling and I use fluoride free toothpaste.

I had fertility issues in my thirties. We both stopped using fluoride in toothpaste and drinking tap water and we’ve had two pregnancies in our 40s. There are literally dozens of medical journal reports on it.

LittleTiger007 · 07/09/2020 17:01

Yes you would have to eat an entire tube to be poisoned. But drinking tap water and using fluoride toothpaste lowers fertility rates. It’s proven science. Please google it if your interested. The fact that specialists didn’t mention it probable implies that they either a. Want your business. b. Are instructed by the governments who supply the water or c. Are ignorant of the research.
Cutting out fluoride worked for me and countless others. You are of course free to ignore this.
