Positive pregnancy test one week after heavy bleed - please help!

Hi all,

I'm not sure where to start! I thought I had had a chemical pregnancy in my last cycle. (Av cycle length for me since having a MMC in June is 23 to 24 days)!

I had a faint but positive FRER on 16th August, but following this I bled from the 19th until 25th April. I took a test just after this bleed started and it was negative. I assumed a Chemical Pregnancy had occurred and that this was a new cycle starting.

I restarted Ov testing again on what I thought was CD8 (clear blue digital and Internet cheapies) which has been at peak / positive daily every day since CD8. Now CD17 ?

Out of curiosity I googled this as it was very unusual for me, advise was to check for HCG as ov tests can pick this up- so I took a pregnancy test - to my surprise, it was a definate positive. I did a few more , all positive followed by a CB digital, which showed pregnant 2-3!!

I called the EPU to ask for advise, but they were not overly helpful.

I've not bled for 10 days, and all tests are very positive but could this still be the case if I did miscarry last week?

Now I am in a state of shock and panic!
I've had 2 MCs, one of which was an MMC (June 2020) and the other an incomplete, which almost took my life some months later. I'm a nervous wreck that this has happened again and its only a matter of time before something dreadful happens 🙈

If anyone has any advise or knows what I can do to find out if -

A. I am infact just shy of 6 weeks pregnant and the bleed was harmless
or
B. I did miscarry and just have leftover HCG in my urine which is being detected.

I would be so grateful If anyone has any advice.

Thank you in advance. X

This happened to me a few weeks ago, tested positive then I bled for 7 days like a period then had another positive test right after. GP booked me in for a scan when I reached 6 weeks and there was an embryo with a heartbeat, now 10 weeks and everything seems fine so far. They couldn't find any reason for the bleeding but said it could maybe have been a twin

@HomerSimpsonsMuumuu thank you so much for your reply!

I am feeling a bit more positive now! The CB digital shows 2-3 weeks which would tally up with my last LMP before the bleed I suffered (6 weeks tomorrow if I am pregnant!) My GP surgery won't take my call until Monday morning now - due to Covid they only take calls 8am until 10am daily so I will have to get through the weekend before calling them!

Thank you again so much and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy 🥰

I had a scan yesterday- its a pregnancy of unknown location. And the waiting game starts, again 😒

Does anyone have any advice?

I'm having second bloods done tomorrow, and a repeat scan on Monday. I dont have much hope for this one 😪

I should be 6+1 so I'd assume something would have been visible, but they couldn't really see anything at all. Worried it could be eptopic!!

Hi

I was wondering if you would mind updating? I hope you’re ok. I also today was told I have a UPL and have to go back for my 2nd blood work on Tuesday, there doesn’t seem to be ectopic but also nothing shown on scan as I was less than 6 weeks. This is my first pregnancy (or was) I took a test on Wednesday (2 days late) and by Saturday evening I had started to spot, then bleed heavier and then full period type bleed by Sunday morning. It’s so confusing going from pure joy to massive upset 3 days later. This was our first time trying to get pregnant so to see positive and 1-2 week pregnant on test was so exciting, to have it ripped away a matter of days later.
Any advice on UPL appreciated??
C x
