Help!! Tracking ovulation..?

Hello!

So I've just finished my first (very strange) AF after the Nexplanon removal, and now trying to think of the best way to actively track my ovulation, peak days etc so I stand the best chance to conceive..

I am using ovaview ovulation strips but not sure when to begin testing etc. This is all completely new to me, and I wasn't sure if there was perhaps an app that I can use to log the ovulation tests? Or something similar?

If not I'm happy to just keep them to one side and visually compare them until I see my peak.. but an app sounds so much easier 😆

Thank you! X x

Hi @ttc97,

I'd suggest you also check CM to make sure you get your fertile window right. Usually you'd start getting ewcm a few or couple of days before a positive OPK.
Personally I start using OPKs once I've noticed a change in my cm (I check internally as don't have much) and I just have a slippery feeling in my vagina. It's easy to miss a surge so best test a few times a day. Once you have a positive OPK, keep testing until it's negative again, sometimes you can have positive OPKs for two or more days.
I log them with the premom app (you can use any tests for this as you can move the line where it reads the colour across).
One thing to note as well is that you can have more than one LH surge in the cycle so it's important to keep an eye on cm.
If you really wanted to go for it you could try BBT to confirm ovulation with a temp spike, however this is only hindsight and only for tracking and predictions of future fertile days.

Hi, I use my cm when tracking ovulation after a couple of cycle of tracking it everyday and feeling my cervix I have gotten to know and understand what it all means but it does take time to understand what is normal for you took me a few cycles. I started using opks when I started getting ovulation symptoms and also when I started to see ewcm.

You could also start testing just before the middle of your cycle so you won’t miss it and I would definitely test twice daily I always test mid morning and then evening. Took me 2 cycles and I managed to catch my peak .

@NoCallerID @Brendon7 thanks so much for your help!
Sounds silly, sorry - I've not had to track ovulation before! I just wondered what typical ovulation symptoms are and when you are likely to ovulate after your period..? X

If you use opk strips I highly recommend the femometer app- it reads your opks for you and calculates your most possible ovulation based on the result. I also do bbt and input that on the fertility friendly app along with the result from the opk and I've found that both of these work really well for me. My period is 7 days and cycle averages 28-30 days so I normally start testing at cd10 with the opks and do bbt through the cycle.
Checking your cervix and cm is also a very good method but I agree that it takes some time to learn how to do it.
Good luck OP x

@ttc97. So for me ovulation symptoms are cramps particularly on one side, I also feel bloated and my boobs feel very full. All this along with ewcm or a particularly wet or slippery feeling down there generally indicates to me I’m in my fertile window.

Also I check my cervix so when it feels high up and is soft like the softness of your lip and also feels open
When i see all these signs I know it’s time to baby dance :)

My cycles are on average 30 days, give or take a few days and this cycle I ovulated on day 21 so for me I’m due my period on cycle day 35 .
How long are you cycles ?

I'm just jumping in to recommend taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler - when I first started tracking it made everything make so much more sense, and I still refer back to it now with questions. It's pretty much the Bible of cycle tracking!

I've got the clear blue fertility monitor and you input your first date of period and it tells you when to start testing.

I tested yesterday (low) and today (high).

I then used my easy@home strips and the app said low today.

I've also got the clear blue digital sticks which I'll begin to use when I get closer to ovulation.

I've not tried recording temperature yet as only just started trying for no.4

Thanks ladies! Sorry to sound so novice in this subject.. I've never really had to pay much attention to this before 😂🙈

I am now AF - free, it stopped last night. How soon should I be seeing different variants of CM? Xx

I'm so confused!!! So I've downloaded the Premom app and also using flo anyway. flo has calculated ovulation next Sunday.. whereas Premom has calculated ovulation THIS Sunday.. what on earth is going on 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ I don't know what to do?!

It really depends on how long your cycles normally are (pre implant). If you tend to have short cycles, start checking rather soon than later.
Wash your hands before going to the loo, finger up there, little swirl around.... I do it several times a day, my cycles are irregular / long.
Don't really on apps for ovulation, they only work once you have a few cycles of data put in as the algorithm uses your personal data to calculate predictions. Most apps use the standard 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 as a base, this is only correct for a small number of women.
I also recommend taking charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler, it helped me massively to understand what's going on.

I’m a big advocate for the clear blue digital advanced.

We fell pregnant both months using it. My last cycle was the one directly after surgery for our missed miscarriage, & despite always being a perfect 28 day cycle, I got my peak fertility day 20, instead of around day 13. I would’ve just been focusing on the week before otherwise, & confused why my cervical mucus wasn’t like egg white.

It all sounds very complicated when you’ve never done it it, but you pick it up pretty quickly.

Good luck, & more importantly, try and have fun with this crazy journey. X
