Understanding ovulation tests?

Sorry for the long post

I've tried ovulation tests again for the second time I'm not really good at understanding them but I thought the lines were the strongest at times of ovulation? I did one on the 28th and got 2 lines a high result according to Femometer although flo said my highest day of ovulation was the 23rd which is usually accurate give or take a day or two. I then went on to do another 2 days later on the 30th and got a low result then again on the 1st September (today) and got a high result? My period is due in 6 days according to flo although I was a week late last month so not guaranteed. Is it normal to get a high result again? Or does that mean my period is coming I heard you can sometimes get a lh surge before but I've not had it on tests before.
Not sure what I'm asking but does anyone have any advice on doing test in future?

I have never had luck with the regular urine ovulation tests, despite trying multiple brands. I dont have PCOS which can apparently affect the readings, and do ovulate and have a regular cycle.

I use a reusable saliva OPK called 'Maybe Baby', but there are many brands available online. Its like a tiny microscope. You put saliva on it, let it dry and look at the pattern. A fern pattern is peak, but they come with instructions.

Just letting you know, because loads of my English friends have never heard of them. (I got mine in Australia)

@Elouera thank you I'm in the uk too and never head of this kind of test either, I'm looking it up now. Would you say it's accurate?

Hi @GeeHO98, none of those tests are positive. The test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line (see mine attached) all of mine and then the peak. You should test twice a day to ensure you catch it as it can be easily missed.

If you’re struggling with using them then there is clear blue options which give you a smile if it’s positive and a blank if it’s not so it’s very clear, they’re about £15 for 20 tests though.

My app said I would ovulate on 18th this month and I ovulated on 27th, would’ve missed my fertile window completely had I just gone by the apps!!

Remember OPKs do not confirm ovulation, they only suggest your body is preparing to ovulate, temping will conform the ovulation.

Good luck xx

@GeeHO98- you asked about the accuracy of the saliva OPK. I can certainly see on the microscope when its nearing the peak and at peak. The urine ones, I'd use them several times a day around ovulation, but never seemed to get any peak at all! I just felt they were a waste of money when testing so often. I've just had my 3rd MC, but this was nothing to do with the OPK.

The saliva type, you can use multiple times a day. I leave it by an open window todry quicker. There are pics in the packet, but when not fertile, you just see blobs, by at peak, the pattern is like a fern.

Agree with @Littlebee1990, your tests are still negative. Have a look at mine from this month-you need to get a peak reading on femometer and should usually ovulate within 24-48 h. Best way to track ovulation is with the opks and charting your bbt-opks will give you an indication when you will roughly be ovulating and the bbt will confirm when exactly it occurred. Keep testing at least twice a day, I do 3 times when I know i'm close, and you have best chances not to miss it! x

I forgot to mention that according to my bbt I ovulated on cd17, so on day after peak opks x
