Temping where do I start?

Any help appreciated, want to start TTC but I'm not sure I'm ovulating. I've been doing test strips but only manage a short wee hold in the morning when I test as I have a weak bladder and wee lots in the night. Can't seem to get a positive.

I thought trying a basal body thermometers and app would be best. Please help with recommendations, it looks complicated it is easy enough to do and follow? Thanks

Fertility friend is the best BBT app as far as most of the TTC community is concerned and it's free :). I just use a cheap femometer thermometer from amazon for like £10.

Key points :

  • temp pretty much the same time every day for comparable temps
  • temp before you do anything at all - ie don't sit up, don't speak, don't drink water, nothing!
  • if you sleep with your mouth open then oral temping might not be for you
  • you need 4h unbroken sleep to temp

But I think that's pretty much it? Other than lots of alcohol and getting ill obviously affecting temps too. It sounds like a lot maybe but I swear it's super straightforward when you think about it. Just wake up, take your temp and log it in FF :)

PS with the femometer thermometer you don't have to enter it in the app straight away - next time you turn the thermometer on it will show you the last temp you took.

I use fermometer and a bluetooth fermometer thermometer which is so easy and helpful. It beeps at 7am and I sleepily put it in my mouth till it beeps again and go back go sleep. Then when I'm up and about I just put it near my phone and open the app and it updates my temperature from earlier.

I starting temping with just a standard digital thermometer and had a beautiful chart the first month!
I since bought a BBT thermometer from Amazon for about £8 and have been using that since.
I use Fertility Friend as a tracking app and it is very easy to navigate.
You get a month for free using the full benefits and then it drops down to the basic version.
I like charts and stuff and paid to extend it for 12months which cost £25 which I thought was ok. You dont have to pay and I wouldnt suggest people have to, it was just my preference.
The app takes your data and produces graphs etc for you.
Its all very straight forward.
Just need to try to take your temp at the same time every day, which is hard when you work shifts!
