Hello,

Looking for some advice. Went on a work trip abroad and didn't want to have AF so ran two packs of pill together (different time zone so tried to take my pills no more than 12 hours difference from when at home - prob more like 5 or 6 hours diff). Got back from work trip and did the deed with DH a couple of times. On break from pill, bleed with not like usual, lasted 1 day instead of 3 and not much cramping.
So, started getting a little worried. Plus woke up in the middle of the night feeling really nauseous, wasn't sick though. Other symptons; tiredness, feel my boobs are bigger and were quite painful for a couple of days, plus feeling quite tired.
Now, this is probably all in my head. Is it worth testing. It has been 14 days since the night that would have resulted in preg.... Also am continuing to take the pill and wouldn't want to do any damage if have conceived. Any thoughts appreciated.

If it was me. I would stop the pill and wait for the next period.

If it's been 14 days then a hpt should be accurate now. You could do one tomorrow morning if you're worried. If it's neg, then it's likely that the odd bleed, nausea, and sore boobs is a result of taking two courses without a break. Tiredness could be down to the stress of travelling and then worrying about being pg.

When I was on the pill and I'd missed a day and had sex, I called NHS direct and the nurse told me that it would have taken at least 4 days if not taking the pill for me to ovulate - not just one slip up.

Also, when I looked into irregular periods, I found a lot of research that says travelling can put your cycles on hold quite dramatically so that you stop producing hormones that cause you to ovulate and then get your period.

Er, just want to wade in and put a public information announcement on... No-one should assume that one missed pill is ok. Just the one can result in unplanned pregnancy. It depends entirely what kind of pill you're on. Some have really small windows that you have to take them in. Digitalgirl, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd hate someone to think they could rely on your situation for their's!

Cosmogirl, do a test. It should be reliable now. I hope it's ok.

Thanks for the advice girls. Being the impatient sort I asked DH to pick up a test from Asda. He came back with the cheapest one they did - two for one pound!! He thinks I am panicking over nothing. Well, did one an hour ago and negative so I guess that's that. It is mad how you can convince yourself of something - seeing every little thing as a symptom....

Know what you mean Cosmogirl, my AF is a few days late and it's HIGHLY unlikely that I'm pg... doesn't stop me itching to test tho
