Is this true - you can safely drink and smoke for 5 days after conception?

My friend conceived and was concerned that she had had a skin full at a wedding a few days after the 'act'. Her OBGYN (she lives in the States!) said that drinking alcohol, smoking, doing anything you perhaps wouldn't normally do when pregnant will not harm the baby for the first 5 days or so after the sex. Would this be because implantation would not yet have happened?

yeah - go for it!

Implantation happens 3 - 12 days after conception (3 days very early). Conception can happen up to 5 days after un protected sex. Until the embryo impants its not connected to your blood stream. However.... the guildines for trying to conveive are pretty similar to being pregnant ie don't drink or smoke. I'd say its probably better to be safe than sorry but that's my opinion.
