Hi ladies I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about egg maturity? I'm just looking for info for my sister who is currently looking into IVF. She has had some tests carried out and has been told that she has lots of follicles but her eggs aren't maturing, does anyone know anything about this or know of any medication that could help? She is going to ask for the test results from the IVF clinic and take them to her GP but wanted to go with as much information as possible.

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:16

@HappyVibes thank you for your advice. Unfortunately don’t track any other way so that’s not very helpful. I would do it all the time in fertile window but although we are trying my oh doesn’t like the pressure so don’t usually tell him and think he will suss if I try it again with him tonight although very annoying for me x

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:19

@Northernsoul90 I can’t be of much help as I don’t know the name of it but I’m sure some women take a certain supplement at the start of the cycle and taking them on certain days is supposed to help mature the egg x

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 08:21

@Runnergirl1 oh yeah I know it’s completely understandable is that. What a good way around it for you though to have found that works for you. We had that issue re the pressure too, I think it’s very very common. I feel so much for the guys in that situation.

Good luck lovely xxxx

Runnergirl1 · 03/09/2020 08:28

@HappyVibes thank you so much 🤞🏻 It’s not easy this ttc business x

Sully84 · 03/09/2020 08:35

@Northernsoul90, I’m sure I’ve read on thread so MN about co enzyme q10 helping eggs (not sure in what capacity) but maybe try googling about it or doing a search on here to see the specifics around using it with regards to fertility? X

MrsK21 · 03/09/2020 09:41

@Northernsoul90 It's soy isoflavones that help eggs mature. The COQ10 helps with egg and sperm quality. The other thing that is actual medication is clomid, which creates higher levels of FSH to get more eggs to maturity. If she's going for IVF, will her clinic provide her with the necessary shots / medicines to help with the egg retrieval? Usually the clinic do this as part of the IVF cycle. I've got a friend currently going through IVF and having to inject herself daily prior to egg collection in a couple of weeks x

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 09:57

@HappyVibes I seem to have bookmarked one of your comments above. Not quite sure how I did that or how to undo it.

AF is due today according to Flo and tomorrow according to Clue. I think I can feel it coming on but still have everything crossed and hopeful for a BFP on Saturday x

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 10:20

@MinnieMouse4 that’s very exciting that you’re testing Saturday too! Fingers crossed for you girl. 💓Oh I have no idea what bookmarking does ha - I can see the sign to bookmark comments but I don’t know what it does or anything ha. Xxx

Wishingfornumber2 · 03/09/2020 10:45

Update from me. Just had a phone call with dr. She is going to book me in for an ultrasound as have been trying for 2 years. Also got to book blood tests for 7 days before period and and then cd 2. But my cycles have been irregular so not sure when to book for! My last 2 cycles have been long at around 40 days but before that were about 31/32 days. Maybe I should go in the middle. My husband also needs to call to book in for tests. I mentioned about using opks and she said not to!

@MinnieMouse4 & @HappyVibes I found out about the bookmarks by accidentally pressing on it once. It marks your place. So when you next look at the thread it goes back to where you last marked. I use it all the time now to know where I’m up to on the thread. Xx

Banbi · 03/09/2020 10:56

Hi everyone - checking back in. I've been lurking in the background the past six weeks, dipping in every week or so to read up on how you're all doing. My motivation is really up and down with everything at the moment (partly the TTC journey, partly not leaving the house enough as I'm still WAH), and I'm even struggling to find the energy for MN!

Sending huge love to everyone who's navigating the NHS right now.

Good luck to the Saturday testers. I caved and did an early test this month (BFN), but AF isn't here yet so I've not lost hope - trying not to test again until either AF or the weekend!

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 11:01

@HappyVibes thank you! Fingers crossed to all the others testing Saturday too!

@Wishingfornumber2 oh that’s so good to know! I might actually use that myself now! Xx

Firevie · 03/09/2020 11:17

Hello ladies!!! Ahh thanks for the tip with the bookmark / it’s changed my life lol
Sorry been bit quiet but it’s because I’ve literally got nothing to report. Will stop doing OPKS now as yesterday’s was v low at 0.12 so I guess I’m now waiting for AF so I can then get back onto it again. But I’m very excited about all the Saturday tests! Cannot wait for @VP91x to put you all in her BFP list for the next thread.
@VP91x hope you’re enjoying dtd now that you’ve peaked! Fingers crossed it’s your month this month! Xxx

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 11:49

@HappyVibes I caved. Just stocked up on some cheap tests and did a cheeky one which was negative ☹️ I’m telling myself that it’s just a cheap test and it wasn’t FMU so until AF arrives I’m still in the running!

familybythesea · 03/09/2020 11:58

Hello!
This is my first time on mumsnet (writing rather than silently stalking Wink) but I wondered if I could join? I'm about to turn 38, ttc after a mmc in March and 2 chemical pregnancies recently. I also have a DS who is now two (no problems conceiving him but I was 35 at the time).
I had my day 2 hormone test today but I'm a bit anxious it wasn't actually day 2 as I might just be spotting and it's hard for me to tell what really is day 1! The doctor's receptionist couldn't care less though and had nothing for tomorrow so I had to take a gamble. Has anyone experienced problems being tested on the wrong day?
I haven't been booked for the progesterone test and now wish I'd requested it as I am feeling increasingly sure I have a progesterone deficiency - it would account for the fact I sometimes have spotting before my period and my luteal phase tends to be 9-10 days (ovulating on day 18/19 usually).
I've just started taking vitamin C and B6 (as well as a prenatal multivitamin). Has anyone found these to help?
I hope you're all doing ok and not too stressed over the whole ttc rollercoaster.

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 12:40

@familybythesea welcome - sorry that you have found yourself here.

Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with what you are going through but the ladies on here are very knowledgeable and should be able to provide some advice and support. X

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 12:43

@MinnieMouse4 oh goodness! Absolutely! The early tests deffo have to be FMU and also, they are such low percentage of accuracy too early on. That’s why I talked myself out of testing today thankfully. You’re well and truly still in the game without a doubt girl. Saturday is our day 💓💫

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 12:44

@Banbi ooh when is your AF due? This is exciting! Xxx

Banbi · 03/09/2020 12:51

@HappyVibes Today! Not a top day for concentration...

Welcome @familybythesea

MrsK21 · 03/09/2020 13:03

Hi @familybythesea welcome to the thread, sorry to hear of your losses, that must have been so tough going through that during the covid situation too.

I've not had any experience in these blood tests being done on a certain day but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who has. It's so hard when you don't know where you are in your cycle!
I know one of the ladies who is on the BFP list @SmileyT took vit C!
Hope this is a lucky month for you xxx

MinnieMouse4 · 03/09/2020 13:52

@Banbi AF twin! According to Flo app AF is due today for me and according to Clue app AF is due tomorrow xx

Banbi · 03/09/2020 14:04

Good luck @MinnieMouse4 - here's hoping we're both testing on Saturday Smile

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 14:16

@familybythesea welcome lovely! I have had my CD23 bloods done recently - although I don’t think they will be helpful as I hadn’t ovulated then - which is what they’re designed to detect. The nurse was reluctant to do any later as she had been instructed to do CD23 only. So I have my gynae appointment next week and expecting them to say I hadn’t ovulated. Hoping I get to go and say well actually I’m pregnant hehehe.

In terms of supplements - I have been taking Macca powder, Methylfolate (instead of folic acid), d3, calc fluor, inositol...& drinking Pom juice & grapefruit juice. Fingers crossed.

Good luck with everything lovely. Sending you lots of positive baby dust vibes 💫 💓

HappyVibes · 03/09/2020 14:18

@MinnieMouse4 @Banbi @chloedancer897 @Northernsoul90 @MrsK21 this is exciting six of us testing in the same period of time woohoo! Lots of BFPs to add to the list over the course of the next week 💫 💓

chloedancer897 · 03/09/2020 15:22

Hi @familybythesea so sorry for your loss and welcome to the group. Many of us take lots of different supplements on here so it's about finding the right balance for you.
I take a prenatal, omega 3 and coq10. My husband takes coq10 and a men's fertility vitamin. I do seed cycling and drink pom juice after ovulation. I've also cut caffeine out of my diet but allow myself one cup of milky tea a day. I hope you find some answers soon.

@HappyVibes don't get too excited for me. Started getting my cramping pinching pains last night. This is what I had last month before AF came. So weird because before MC I never had this pain before. So not very hopeful.
