Is this an evaporation line or a positive?

Hi, I’m not getting my hopes up and think this is probably just an evap line. I don’t even know if I could be pregnant, I had sex the day before my last period which was now 31 days ago. My period came the next day as usual but I don’t know if it’s possible to conceive during a period? If so then I’d be around 4 weeks pregnant though and surely by then the line wouldn’t be so faint. Opinions/similar experiences welcome pls!

Is this a Tesco test? They're awful for giving false positives that look just like your test.

If it was a good brand of test I'd say it's definitely positive.

But having said that if you last had sex 31 days ago then if we say sperm can remain active up to 5 days that'd been ovulation/conception a minimum of 26 days ago. 26DPO should give a very dark line on a HPT. Even if we said the sperm remained active up to 1 week that'd still be 24DPO... so I'd be concerned about such a faint line.

Overall my guess, unfortunately, is that you're not pregnant.

@Curiosity101 it’s a Sainsbury’s one so probably same thing - I think you’re right Sad

That looks like a definite positive to me. Terrible if there are brands that give false positives, I never knew that! But yes it should be darker. Get another test and fingers crossed for you

It is also possible that you've experienced a chemical pregnancy/early loss. It's impossible to know for sure.

Whatever the reason, I'm sorry Sad. Wishing you luck for the future SmileFlowers.

Has anyone ever been 3 days late due to stress? Mine are normally every 28 days without failure, I have been really stressed lately but the fact it could be causing my periods to mess up is really upsetting, like my body is failing under the weight of the chaos around me at the moment

Stress will absolutely mess with your periods.

It does look like a positive test but since you had sex before your last period I dont think it's possible. The sperm would have to survive for 2 weeks until ovulation and you'd be 4 weeks pregnant now so I would expect a darker line. I dont really know what could be happening though tbh. Test again in 2 days and see what the test is like. I'd use a 1st response if I were you though, more accurate.

Hi OP.
It's really hard to say.. I've just had heartbreak with Tesco tests.. 4 of them showing similar to yours and been advised today that they are ALL false positives and pretty much boil down to just very nasty evaporation lines..
I really hope this isn't the case for you!! 🤞🏼💓

I would check with a clear blue or FRER to be sure.
Wishing you luck!
