Miscarriage?

Hi,

Had 4 positive pregnancy tests 8-10th August.

I am 5 weeks and 3 days and just taken another pregnancy test now and it's negative (with maybe a very faint line but we think we might be imagining it)!?

I have regular periods normally, have had no bleeding but very mild period pain type cramps last week. Have I had a miscarriage without knowing? Where do I go from here? I have read something about the 'hook effect' but am I clutching on straws?

Any advice welcome Confused
Thanks in advance.

@santorinisun sorry you are having such a confusing time. There are a number of reasons you could be getting a negwtive test. Is it the same brand you got your bfp on? I found my IC never got dark....

If you haven't bled then its unlikely you have actually physically miscsrried yet. However unfortunately tests getting lighter this early are often not a good sign. It's probably best to try to speak to your gp or epu, you could ask for bloods or a scan to see what is going on. I don't want to scare you but one reason for a negative test after a positive can be ectopic pregnancy and you are better knowing about that sooner rather than later. It could also be a chemical pregnancy that's not actually miscarried yet. Or a dud test! At the moment we can only offer up possible explanations but hopefully a dr will be able to do more.

Good luck, I really hope you get the outcome you want x

Thank you for your reply @Workingmama1

The positives were 2 x first response and 2 x clear blue.

And then the negative last night was first response. My hubby went out and bought a cheap Sainsbury's one and that was a very very strong line. Then I did the other first response this morning & that was also positive. Very confusing!

I was also sick this morning for the first time, hoping that's a positive sign but I think I need a blood test or scan to confirm!Hmm

@santorinisun sounds like maybe it was a dud test then! Especially if you got a strong positive onnthe sainsbury's and a positive first response. Still no harm in contacted a dr, but I think with those positives it seems like things are moving in the right direction.

Frers are very sensitive. Could have been a dud or your hcg might be so high it skewed the result. I tested at 6 weeks after having very strong lines and suddenly they were barely there. Had to top up the urine with a load of tap water to get a strong line again. Weird but true
