BBT & OPK - advice needed!

TTC #1 and this is our first cycle trying. I have been using BBT as a method of prevention for 3 years so thought I knew my body quite well. This month, I introduced OPKs to the mix. According to my previous years of BBT, I normally ovulate around day 18 of my 32 day cycle. However this month I got a + OPK on CD13 along with my usual symptoms of ovulation (pain, had EWCM day before). I got a - OPK on CD14. My temperature didn’t start to increase until CD16, and it has very slowly risen up to what I’d now say is usually my post-ovulation temperature on CD18.
Is it possible that the OPK got it wrong? Or is it possible to have that much of a slow increase in BBT?
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the OPK was right as we BD’d in the days leading up to and one day after the positive! Any advice greatly appreciated! X

With opks they detect the lh surge which is your body preparing to ovulate. You usually ovulate between 12-36 hours after a positive opk, so sounds within the normal range - was your lowest temperature on cd15?

Hard to say without seeing the chart - it could be that you have more than one surge per cycle so the one you caught wasn't necessarily the one resulting in ovulation. Having said that, your description makes it sound like you did indeed ovulate on CD15!

Thanks for the reply both! It’s good to get some opinions.
Temps pre ovulation we’re sitting around 36.40. I had a temp drop on CD13 (36.26), slight increase on CD14 (36.41), then another drop on CD15 (36.27)! The days that followed were gradual increases up to today’s 36.66. Temps have been taken religiously at the same time every day, but perhaps a bad night sleep could be to blame. Normally my charts are very easy to read but it’s been very up and down this cycle! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed and pointlessly symptom spotting either way I’m sure! 🤣🤞🏻
