Hey! I’m 40, but ttc. I got the smiley face digital ovulation tests last month and did not ovulate according to the test. The whole thing made me feel like a science experiment! Then I had a vile heavy period. This month I’ve started testing again and am about to enter my ‘fertile window’. No LH surge yet. I’m wondering whether the tests are just crap, I test first thing in the morning. Should have had a baby sooner but life just hasn’t worked out like that. Fingers crossed I don’t just have heavy periods and am infertile! What a treat that would be!

Hey, I used the cheapie sticks from amazon and tested twice a day during my fertile window because you can easily miss the surge. They seemed to work for me

I use the clear blue advanced. I have used regular (pink) clear blue ones and also internet cheapie strips. I prefer the CB advanced by far, you get flashing smileys first which gives you more warning of when you’re fertile. Start testing twice daily around the time you expect to ovulate, sometimes you can miss the peak by a matter of hours x

They are called one step ovulation strips. You get 30 for £4.99. I used 2 a day over my fertile window and I luckily got caught in my second cycle but they can last a while.

I also use one step as I like to test fairly regularly so makes sense to go for a cheaper brand! I use the premom app which then tells you whether it's a low, high or peak reading x

I think it’s better to test around 2pm if you can, apparently you’re more likely to show the LH surge in afternoon or evening. Defo test twice if unsure! Good luck

Using the cheapie strips and test every day except your period. It is a good way to know your LH progression. And try to test twice a day in the fertile window, just in case you miss the LH peak.

I could never ever get a positive result with a cheap internet one. Clear blue with the flashing/solid smiley was spot on though 🙌🏼
