Morning all. I'm a day or two post ovulation now, have ultrasound and blood test at fertility clinic this afternoon, so feeling more calm this cycle. How's everyone else?

Daffodil21 · 16/09/2020 09:38

@CEW19 hope it all goes well for you today - let us know how you get on.

I'm actually feeling pretty good. I had a lovely weekend away with DH. Couldn't tell you where I am in my cycle 😂 not tracking is a massive relief! I've got a reflexology session tonight (dropped it down to once a month) and tomorrow I'm trying acupuncture!!! 😱

@CEW19 how did your appointment go?

OP posts:
CEW19 · 18/09/2020 08:43

@Daffodil21 went well I think, ovaries look fine and had around 7 follicles on each which she said was good. will get the blood test results in around 10 days, then DH taking in his sample on the 5th. About a week into the TWW now too.

How was acupuncture?

Daffodil21 · 18/09/2020 09:38

@CEW19 that's great! So glad it went ok! Oh nooo the worst part of the TWW!!

Acupuncture was amazing. She is also an osteopath and picked up problems with my back, pelvis and leg so she's working on that too. She said I have a rotated pelvis which probably isn't helping because it puts that area under stress, which isn't ideal for a fertilised egg to implant and stay there. The needle side of things were fine - I couldn't see any because my mask blocked the view thankfully! I'm going back in 2 weeks, even if it doesn't help fertility-wise I'm still going to keep seeing her. She mentioned about eating progesterone boosting foods to help too.

She struggled to get the needles into my back because it was really tight, so obviously I've just booked myself a lovely massage 😂 any excuse!!

@Daffodil21 so interesting how it all works with the acupuncture! I’m going to wait and see what the test results say but would definitely be keen to try it out! DH is convinced we’ll have to go down the IVF route and end up with twins. He’s just said “I feel like it’s written in the stars” 😂 we’ve always said 2 kids, so in his head, it would be great to get two out in one! Trying to explain that it’s not that simple but he’s convinced now lol

Daffodil21 · 19/09/2020 10:51

@CEW19 I'm not sure if it would have been picked up by specifically an acupuncturist, I think it was because she was an osteopath too? I'm not really sure tbh, but I enjoyed it anyway! I always knew there was something wrong with my lower back but I just thought it was age/poor posture. I did not expect her to say 'you know have scoliosis, right?' 😂 the reflexologist has previously asked if I had problems with my lower back and I just said well it does hurt sometimes 😂 I feel like it's all come together now! I'm absolutely not saying it's going to help me get pregnant, but I enjoyed so it was a nice thing to do anyway.

Twins would be amazing! That's the dream 😂 although one is proving hard enough!!

Has anyone had a listen to the BFN podcast? It's so funny! I've been listening to it while I work, which is sort of the opposite of trying to switch off from everything but honestly it's hilarious. It's probably designed for people who are having problems conceiving (🙋‍♀️), I have found it strangely comforting though! They have guest on every week and 'debunk' the myths with a fertility specialist every week too

Ugh so another fertile week goes by where I struggled to convince my husband to have sex 😩 We managed it a whopping once. He still claims to be on board with having a kid though, just not sure if he's expecting a stork delivery 🤦‍♀️

Daffodil21 · 20/09/2020 09:49

@BellaBella84 oh no! This is going to sound stupid, but does he actually understand how it works...?

We had a conversation ages ago on here about this, I think it was on the first thread. General consensus was that our OHs need to buck up and get on with it. They only have a small effort to play in this, while we agonise over symptom spotting, OPKs, the tww, when to test etc etc. All they need to do is hop on board a few times a week - it's really not that much to ask!! Have you spoken to him about it?

Generally my DH knows we have to just get on with it regularly, even if we cba. But there were times early on when he wasn't like that. I remember throwing my Ava at him saying 'this isn't going to get me pregnant you know! We actually have to have sex as well!' Like a crazy person 😂 so don't worry, you are not alone. But the issue does need dealing with x

@bellabella84 my other half declared today that at the start of fertile week he's "really excited, loads of sex!" but by the end (you know...the days that really count) he's tired and hoping the static smile arrives so he can be left alone for a bit! Charming 😂

BellaBella84 · 22/09/2020 10:19

@Daffodil21 In all fairness I don't agonise over symptom spotting as I know I'm not likely to get anything meaningful before 6 weeks and OPKs just confirmed what I already knew. TWW is still another kind of hell where my house has never looked so clean though!

Although he gets in principle that there's only a few key days, he didn't want to read the SMEP booklet because he didn't want for us to get all obsessive over things. I personally think he'd have found it helpfull. And to be fair to him I know plenty of people whose lives become completely consumed by having a family. Don't get me wrong we really really want this, just trying to keep a foot somewhere near the "36 yr old ovaries" reality!

BellaBella84 · 22/09/2020 10:22

@Tofu35 Ha typical! 🙄 I've taken to sacking off the begining of the week for that exact same reason!

Daffodil21 · 22/09/2020 15:22

@BellaBella84 ah I see. I've had symptoms then got a positive result before 6 weeks so I am very much a symptom spotter. I'm already working out when I can test - so much for taking a more relaxed approach this month 🙈 I haven't even tracked so I don't even know for sure. What a mess!

Could you try and dtd every 2-3 days throughout? Or is that worse for him?

OP posts:
BellaBella84 · 22/09/2020 15:47

@Daffodil21 Honestly 2-3 days a week I should be so lucky! 🤣 I would just test around day 30 if your cycle's irregular.

BellaBella84 · 22/09/2020 15:51

@Daffodil21@Tofu35 I'm holding out hope for October though as my most likely fertile days are over a weekend!

Daffodil21 · 22/09/2020 16:02

@BellaBella84 30 days is too early for me. I'm going to test next saturday (CD35) then try and leave it a few days if no AF (it wouldn't be abnormal for no AF by then) I told myself I wouldn't test early this month, and although I didn't use OPKs this month I did have a bit of EWCM on CD17+18 so I'm sort of still tracking 🙈

I'm going to go 'out there' for a second... if regularity of dtd becomes a problem, could you consider at home insemination..? There's a thread on here somewhere about it, it all looked pretty successful (I was tempted to try it at one point!) I don't know if that would help him or not, but if might help you not to start to feel a bit of resentment (that's how I feel if dtd doesn't go to plan anyway 😂)

OP posts:
BellaBella84 · 22/09/2020 16:54

@Daffodil21 then don't test at 30 days.

Daffodil21 · 22/09/2020 18:19

@BellaBella84 I have no intention of testing at 30 days. The most pointless thing ever for me

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 22/09/2020 18:32

I can see my suggestion wasn't particularly well received, and sorry if I caused offence.

I think I'm going to step away from this thread as planned because I'm just not in the same place and my spouting off is clearly not helping anyone (or me)

Tofu35 · 22/09/2020 23:19

Enjoy your time away @Daffodil21, fingers crossed for you.

Tofu35 · 22/09/2020 23:23

My POAS test week has been replaced with a week of other tests- a smear test for me and a semen test for DH. Lucky us!

CEW19 · 23/09/2020 08:37

I'm coming to the end of my cycle now, AF due Sunday. Find it so hard not to track/symptom spot because I'm pretty consistently 28 days Confused and I get EWCM bang on mid cycle. Although, I've tried the seven seas preconception vits the last two months, and been getting spotting from the Wednesday before AF due. Having spotting today now, so pretty sure I'm out this month again.

Anyone got any vitamin recomendations? Found pregnacare and Boots own have made me off by a few days. Might just get folic acid on its own and see how that goes.
