Guys can you help me please! TTC my first...and I’m so confused about vitamins!

I have been using Pregnacare conception for the past couple of months and since I started using this I just had so many issues.

  • Nausea
  • Headaches
  • AF late (never am I late!)
  • AF shorter than usual
  • I just felt shit

I read up about it and thought that’s the only thing I’ve changed in my diet so il come off it and already I feel better!

But now I’m confused on why vitamins to take. I just don’t think Pregnacare agreed with me. I’ve bought

  • Vitamin c
  • Folic acid with Vitamin D
  • Evening Primrose which I believe you take up until ovulation then stop

But I’m confused about the rest of my vitamins!? I used to take boots multi vitamins and cod liver oil every day. But boots multi vitamins seem to have 800mg of vitamin A which I’ve read is not good.

How have you guys tackled it? Help me please :)

I'd stick with the vitamin D and folic acid as that's all that's recommended for pregnancy. You shouldn't take a normal multivitamin due to vitamin A. If you eat well you don't really need the others

@AKcheer folic acid and vitamin d is all you really need for now. How long have you been TTC and do you have any gynae issues?

zippityzip · 13/08/2020 11:38

Folic acid and Vit D is all that is recommended for TTC.

I took Seven Seas conception - didn't make me feel sick nor interfere with my cycle.

DH can take Wellman Conception for a little extra help.

Stay away from Vitamin A.

Hi all. Thanks for your comments. Maybe il take just vitamin d and folic acid then!!

@Stabal this is either month 2 or 3 trying. In our first month I got a UTI and on the key dates couldn’t DTD so not counting that. So we will stick to month 2! No gynae issues I know of yet....but I get scared and nervous thinking about it. Lots of my friends got pregnant in the first go! Not me though!!

@AKcheer you're still very early into it so I would just stick with the folic and vit d. If nothing seems to be happening 6 months down the line I'd look at seeing what else you might need. The evening primrose is helpful for ewcm but can also affect your cycle so be cautious of it and only take it if you really think you're not getting enough of the ewcm. Omega 3 dha is a better option that's safe to take all through your cycle but again I'd probably wait and see how you get on with the standard lot. Good luck!

@AKcheer hey, i know a lot have answered but just wanted to add Im also just on Folic Acid and Vitamin D and then a healthy diet :)

I did look into all the others but it seems the above is fine on its own as well. Good luck Smile

Thank you so much everyone! It really helps and as always I’m learning a lot! I think I will stick with vitamin d and folic acid :) wish me luck!

Another one saying stick to folic acid and vitamin d, unless you have any known deficiency. My DH also is on a vitamin d but that's all. I just use the Superdrug brand ones and they don't affect my cycle
