I was wondering if anyone can shed some light?

I have been TTC for 2 years not a hint of a line! Normally cycles are 35 days bang on but this time, cycle was due this Friday- I started having normal AF type pains last Friday and then started having spotting and bleeding yesterday.
I feel exactly the same as if AF is starting but was wondering if there’s any chance this could be implantation? I know it seems unlikely because I have all the normal AF signs (spotting, cramps, feeling periody) but any thoughts?

Any thoughts would be great! Xx

Hi @AmesK
Sorry I haven’t really got much in the way of advice but I just wanted to wish you all the best! If your cycles are usually very regular and now you’re experiencing something which is unusual for you I think it’s definitely worth doing a test.
Best of luck x

Do you know when you ovulated? Unless it was super late this cycle it would be unlikely for it to be implantation yesterday - and if it was, what would Friday's AF pains have been?

There's really not much information for anyone to make an educated guess, I'm sorry Sad

The month I got my BFP I ovulated on CD30 - I had AF type pains on the Tuesday and was sure that I was out 😞 Tuesday night until Friday morning I had really painful AF pains (made me cry at one point) but barely anything on my pad, only when I wiped (sorry for TMI). Tested on the Saturday and got my very clear BFP! I was then tested for an ectopic due to the blood and cramps but all was okay, currently have my little 20 week old sitting with me! Best of luck, I know implantation bleeding is something not everyone gets but I remember the exact moment I felt her implant. Maybe wait a couple of days and test?

Thanks @BerylSilverstone for the good wishes! I’ll test tomorrow I think if AF hasn’t shown herself (fingers crossed she stays away although the cramps are getting worse so I suspect I might be out!)

@Juno231I think I ovulated around the 31st July but didn’t tempt so can’t be sure. You’re right though, most likely this is just AF starting early. I just feel so disheartened by the whole journey that I’m just clutching at straws I think Confused

So lovely to hear your story @cupcakesandglitter! Thanks for sharing and massive congratulations on your lovely baby Smile The reason I asked this question is that I never never never come on early! And this time I’ve started 4 days early! Which is super unusual but I guess all things have to be taken into account and I’m feeling very periody and having exactly the same AF pains and spotting as I always do when I’m about to go into full flow (if you’ll excuse the hideous TMI description of it Grin) Did you get much bleeding when you had your cramps? I know yours was only on wiping but tiny amounts or a bit more? Because mine so far has been very light pink in colour but seems to be starting to pick up in quantity- so most likely I’m out right?

To be fair then your AF type pains on Friday could have been the implantation? Then it's not unusual to have some spotting in the early days/first trimester. Only way to find out is to test!

AmesK · 12/08/2020 12:59

@Juno231 I really hope so! I’m just losing a bit of hope though because I’m feeling very periody and spotting has started to increase :( I feel very silly because every month I convince myself it’s my time and then nothing so I’m so scared of thinking good things but still can’t help it. Is that silly?

@AmesK I'm the same! I try really hard not to symptom spot anymore as they always turn to BFN anyway. Then I get my hopes up a little bit anyway and get disappointed when I get my BFN. I do tend to start testing at 9dpo though so feel that it lets me down gently by the time I accept it for what it is! Can't imagine really thinking it will be a BFP and waiting until 12-14dpo before I test only to be hit with reality then :/

AmesK · 12/08/2020 16:35

@Juno231 I know exactly what you mean! And I do it every time, symptom spot, get disappointed and then get angry at myself for repeating the cycle again :( Whereabouts are you in your journey? I hope you get your BFP very soon! Xx

@AmesK A bit more than that - I felt periody too 😂 I could've sworn it was coming, I felt no different whatsoever... it just never turned into full flow! Keeping my fingers crossed for you, there's no way of knowing unfortunately 😞 I'd definitely test in a couple of days or so with a FRER? Good luck either way xx

AmesK · 12/08/2020 20:51

Ah @cupcakesandglitter thank you! Yeah I feel disgustingly periody (and the heat is not helping!) Feel like my uterus is about to burst HmmGrin
But you’re right, won’t know until I test! Thank you so much for you kind wishes! I think I’ll hold off testing until AF was supposed to be due and then see what happens- sneaking suspicion AF is just playing tricks on me but too hot to bother now Wink xx
