Missed period, nausea...negative test

Hi, just a sounding board really as I'm so confused what all this means? I had a missed miscarriage at the start of the year, picked up at my 12 week scan (was only measuring 10 weeks) It took a while for my cycles to settle, but 2 months after it went back to usual. pre miscarriage I was regular as clockwork, every 28-29 days. However, my last 2 cycles have gotten shorter, one was 26 days then the following month 25 days, with AF lasting only 3days when usually it's 5. This month I'm on cycle day 30 and no sign of AF. I have done a test which has come back negative. I've felt nauseous the last 3 mornings but other than that nothing. Could it be a missed period, maybe I didn't ovulate this month, or just delayed as I ovulated later?...Anyone else had anything similar?

Hi op, I’m afraid I don’t have any real advice, but I just wanted to say sorry for your mmc.

I also suffered a mc in January at 9 weeks and like you I was regular as clockwork before hand. Since the mc my cycles now vary in length and my periods have become much shorter and lighter, now lasting 2-3 days instead of 4-5.

I’ve read, and been told by my doctor that it can take up to 12 months following a mc for your body to regulate itself again!

Try not to worry. As for the nausea keep an eye on it but I know since watching my cycles much more closely I usually get a stint of nausea after ovulation as the progesterone levels in my body increase.
Try testing again in a few days, but I would have thought that if you had enough hcg in your body to produce symptoms, then you’d have enough to get a line on a test.

Good luck with everything xx

Thank you for your reply and sorry for your loss too Thanks

I don't feel pregnant, and like you said, if I'm getting symptoms like nausea then surely I'd be getting a positive by now. I'm wondering if it's just irregular cycles too. More than likely I've ovulated later. I normally notice EWCM but it was lacking this month and I did think 'what's going on'. It's so frustrating as i feel like it may not be straight forward going forward now with my cycles all over the place.

Yeah I feel you. It’s hard since the mc having everything being thrown off.

I track now with opk’s, I find at least then I know when I’m ovulation so I can make sure not to miss my window. Then I’ve noticed a pattern that I at least have regular 13 day luteal phase so once I manage to pinpoint ovulation I know that I should see af after 13 days.

I also seem to go months where I don’t notice any ewcm. I’ve no idea what that means, but I seem to be ovulating normally.

I’ve just had tests done on cd2 for various things, and a 21 day test for progesterone levels done which have come back normal so I think my body is doing what it’s meant to, just seems it’s got no real regular pattern anymore! Lol.

Well that's encouraging to hear! Fingers crossed for you @Moominmiss. Thank you for sharing, it has reassured me plenty this morning. I was using OPK before, but haven't thought to do it this time around. I've been cautiously trying (did put on hold for height of corona) so that's something I may try now. Just for peace of mind that I'm ovulating, and when so I get more in tune with how my cycles are working.

Hi @Smarties87...I know this is an older post, but just wanted to see what happened with your cycles and if they started to regulate again? I am experiencing what you described above post my miscarriage in August last year. My cycles are usually 28 days on the dot and this month I have had a 25 day cycle. Then my periods since the miscarriage have been lasting only around 2 days vs the 4-5 before the miscarriage. No idea what is going on and worried that there is an issue maybe! Would really love to hear your experience. All the best

Hi @KEG01 I'm sorry for your loss. It's really frustrating as it seems to take a fair while for everything to settle down. I feel like I'm going to be really unhelpful as a month after this post I went back on contraception (depo shot) as with a heavy heart I decided to put everything on hold due to Covid. Had an awful experience with the depo, spotting intermittently and the mood swings I felt (was out of character) were awful. I've been off it since December and my cycles are completely out of whack again, although this is probably due to depo, rather than what I was experiencing before. I'm behind g to wonder if I'll ever have a regular cycle again...
