Hi I had the marina coil for past 6 years, then 6 years before that.. and the old coil 6 years before that!! (Theres an 8 year gap between my 3 children..)Anyway had it taken out last OCT and was pregnant within a week!! Course the DH taking all the credit..The worst part is having to have it put in again

MissusH · 02/10/2007 22:40

I had my Mirena for 3 yrs and had it removed in June as we are ttc #2.

It took a couple of cycles for everything to get back to normal so not pg yet but working on that!

Good luck

i got pregnant with my mirena still in situ!!!! nice huh!!

TrinityRhino · 03/10/2007 07:55

I had the mirena coil in for 2 years, had it removed to ttc. It took a couple of cycles to get my periods back. It took a year to get pregnant BUT dh was away for 4 months in the middle of that year so that messed it up lol

Screaminglips · 03/10/2007 08:17

yes i do know that ya can get pg with the coil in - eek! ....

So it is once you have ya period after the mirena coil is taken out you can get pg...or is that not always the case?

bealcain · 03/10/2007 08:22

as far as i'm aware, that isn't the case, you just need to have ovulated. you still do this with mirena the coil just prevents the egg being fertilised but you do still ovulate hence why you get pg with a coil in and why some people may get pg within a week they say to take it out in between periods, which is usually the time that most women would ovulate.

go to family planning clinic and talk to them, they know all the info and may have good suggestions for planning etc

Screaminglips · 03/10/2007 08:25

aww thanks Bealcain - i think i will go to the family planning clinic after Xmas to get more info on things

Tigger13 · 03/10/2007 20:40

is that the hormone one?

If the one without the hormone it took me 6cycles to get pregnant with no2 with the hormone one which I had after having No2 it took 2 months to get pregnant again.

Screaminglips · 05/10/2007 08:52

mine out in feb, pg by july.

duchesse · 08/10/2007 10:46

I had my Mirena out June 2003 in order to ttc number 4; first documented pregnancy after that was August 2006; that pregnancy lasted only three months, and there's been nothing since.

I went from being hyper-fertile in 2000 to sub/infertile in 2003. Only difference was going from 31 to 35 in age, and having the Mirena for 3 years. Not a typical answer judging by the other responses...

emotionalwreck · 09/10/2007 15:22

you should start taking folic acid a few weeks before you have your coil removed too x
