A full week of flashing smilies! Have I missed my peak?

Morning everyone. As the title says, I've just had my seventh flashing smiley in a row and I'm wondering if I might have missed my peak.

I'm using the Clearblue advanced digi OPKs and they are technically out of date as of about a week ago. I know they advise against using them after expiry, but they were £2 for a box of 20 and this is my first month ever TTC so I thought, why not! But I'm now wondering if that's what's causing it to be stuck at high, not giving a peak.

I did look at the two lines on the stick after I ejected it and they seemed very close in how dark they were, and I plan to test again this afternoon, but just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences with out of date OPKs. 😊

Forgot to say - I'm CD16, so not out of the realms of possibility that I just haven't ovulated yet!

Why don’t you ttc whilst it’s on flashing? Best bet for now, I think.

@Bananacloud Thanks for replying! 😊 Yes, probably should have mentioned we've just been DTD anyway so we are covered regardless - I'd just like to know when I ovulate 😅

Just an update - did a non digital OPK of a different brand with SMU and got a negative, but fairly close to a positive 🤔 Ovia has changed my FW about 10 times because of all these high OPK results lol. Just want to know where I'm at!

Did another OPK this afternoon and it was a flashing smiley again but looked like this when ejected, sooo close! 😩 Hoping to get that elusive static smiley tomorrow morning 🤞🏻

I've used the clear blue digital for two months now the first month I got a static smiley on the 10th day, this month it was 11th day. I'd keep testing.

@sailormoo92 I will do, thanks for replying! I've just been a little concerned that I'm not going to ovulate at all as I'm only two months off hormonal contraception but those lines look so close that I feel a bit better now haha

I had 10 solid smileys last month! And 8 this month! Definitely persevere - are you testing morning and night? I got my static last night on CD20

Oddly, my static doesn't really look like it should be a positive, but FX.

@somanystars hey lovely, I would suggest keep it up & keep your excitement & faith up. We had the same last month with an unusually long (for us) high window. We had the flashing for 9 days, then we got our peak. Prior to this we usually have 3-4 flashing days & then the peak. I too started to worry & think I wasn’t going to ovulate. But we persevered, kept faith & it paid off.

Also, the LH surge can sometimes happen but not quite be strong enough to be detected. So you can very well still ovulate but just not be detected on the OPK as a peak. It’s good to know you’ve still been DTD to cover all bases.

@HappyVibes Thanks so much for your lovely response! 😊 I'm testing again this morning, but I noticed one or two things last night that suggest to me I've already ovulated, so I'm not expecting a static---- actually never mind, I just checked my test and it's a static! Typical!! 🤣

So - that means ovulation will probably be tomorrow, right?

@somanystars GIRLLLLL that’s amazing with the static. That’s the golden one. Now is your optimal time - today & tomorrow.

I realised last month that maybe the static could have technically shown up say 1pm the day before (when you got a flashing). But then because I was only testing in the morning, I didn’t get the static till the following morning at 8am. So, when we realised this, we said that next time we get the static, we are going to use that day as our ultimate peak & ‘try’ for x2 per day - morning & night. Then the morning after....if that makes sense?

@HappyVibes Thank you, I'm so pleased! I was starting to worry I wasn't ovulating yet after coming off BC. I know a peak OPK isn't a guarantee but it's a pretty good sign so I'm pleased! 😊

I did test around 10 last night and got a flashing smiley, but I think that my peak probably started not long after that as I started noticing a bit of nipple sensitivity when I went to bed and I've noticed that for a couple of months now around this time.

Congratulations @somanystars - I think the CB ones seem to measure things weirdly so best not to check the sticks. It's hard though. When I got my static this month the stick looked like this. Weird.

@RMarieClaire Thank you 😊 Oh yeah I know in the instructions it says not to count what the lines are doing, but it's hard not to look! Either way, happy now that I got my static.

Ooh exciting! Ovia says 12 days til I can test, do you have a date for testing yet? (I know for sure I'll be testing before then though haha 🤣)

I know it's weird isn't it. This was the line - forgot to attach. Doesn't look like a peak to me but have to hope the static smiley doesn't lie!

With dd I got a positive around DPO 9, but last month my cycle was 45 days long! I tested early so my wait for AF when it was negative felt like a life time so I'm going to try to resist until AF is due on 23rd!

@RMarieClaire Oh that is strange, that's what mine looked like yesterday! I'm sure it doesn't lie though 😊 Today the stick did have more dye in the test line than the control which was nice to see.

45 days, omg! That must have been torture 😩 Honestly knowing me I'll be testing from about 4DPO haha, just so annoying you have to wait so long to find out!
