OPK help! Pics included. What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

Sorry everyone after giving up I'm wondering if maybe I'm just getting it wrong.

So I haven't had a peak OPK or EWCM and am worried I am not ovulating again (this happened in my past, few posts on it).

However, I'm wondering if it might be my urine/me that's at fault.

Can you be too hydrated? I tend to drink 2-3l a day. I know not to use FMW and avoid this. However, I work shifts so it can be difficult to test at the same time. Last month I had a definite peak at day 12 and my lines were a lot darker. I was on annual leave at the time and able to test better.

I'm wondering if I ovulated the same time this month but due to drinking so much it's not showing?

I suppose I won't know for certain until AF arrived (if it arrives).

Thank you!

I would say keep testing as you might be someone who ovulates on CD 19 Or 20. And I would say to measure your bbt as that is a more accurate way to know if you’ve ovulated or not than opks. You need to do it for a while cycle really to see the jump in temp bit you could start now jist to see what it looks like over the next week.

tootiredtoclean · 08/08/2020 20:33

Thank you @LaceyMermaid
Going to keep testing. I started early this time as the one before was a lot earlier than I expected and I just caught it.

I've been looking at BBT but it looks quite complicated. How do you know when it indicates ovulation? I have to wait for a more accurate thermometer than the one we've got

It’s actually ok when you get used to it. You take your temp everyday same time when you wake up (Set an alearn if needed) before you move (so no drinking/going to the bathroom etc). Log it on a fertility app like Femometer/fertility friend is easiest. You know you’ve ovulated when you get a shift in temp so basically when you get 3 days of a higher temp. Good things about an app is it’ll tell you if it detects ov from your temps. I do it alongside opks so I can see if they match up. I use Femometer as it reads your opk for you and give you a low/high/peak reading so no guessing from you.
Good luck!

RMarieClaire · 08/08/2020 21:02

I think if you work shifts temping might be hard for you. You need to take it same time every day, after sleeping for at least 3 hours.

I would keep testing - I usually ovulate around day 23/24!

Are you using cheapies? You could try a digital? With my first, I didn't seem to get positive results with ics but I got my peak on a CB advanced and got my BFP

claireb707 · 08/08/2020 21:58

I manage to get positives on opk amd I drink 4+ litres a day (strong bladder so can hold it a bit longer 😂😂).
I even get the on fmu (even though they say not to) I use wandfo cheapies from Amazon as well as clear blue digital advanced ones.

claireb707 · 08/08/2020 22:01

Regarding the bbt, I struggle a little as my sleep pattern is erratic. But I also use an Ava band which means the stress of taking bbt has been reduced.

This hows the difference between the Ava and a normal bbt thermometer

@RMarieClaire I was about to reply to @LaceyMermaid. I don't think it would be possible to do it the same time every day. My shifts aren't even in a pattern they are all over the place and if I'm on a night then there will be no sleep at all.

Although I could give it a go and just skip the days I can't do a bit like the OPKs I'm guessing. If the changes last a few days I should catch it still?.

Do you have longer cycles if you're ovulating later? Congrats on the BFP Smile

using IC's at the moment. I keep putting off buying a digital but as time goes on it might be worth it.

@claireb707 I can't hold that much for 4 hours that's pretty impressive. Good luck for tomorrow I see AF is due 🤞the bbt definitely looks more accurate.

Does it match up to your OPKs predictions?,

@tootiredtoclean ah that’s a shame. You could still do it and see bit I think it needs to be after at least 3 hours sleep and the same time roughly. You might still see a pattern though! Mine matches my opks but I think sometimes people find it doesn’t and they actually ovulate later than opk suggests.

Greenbks · 09/08/2020 00:23

I used the strips and the clear blue digital this month and last. This month however, the strip built up similar to your CD 11 and so I tested it on the clear blue and got a smiley face which indicated I was ovulating. I think the strips can be a little weak at times to pick up ovulation. They’ve worked fine for me for months but they’re a bit weird some months so I have clear blue and use that simultaneously to when I have my darkest line on the strip. Try doing that next month. Good luck

RMarieClaire · 09/08/2020 05:55

@Greenbks can I ask if you felt the CB was right based on other signs? I've been using both CB and IC OPKs this month and they do not seem to align at all. Last night i for my static smiley but at the same time got a pretty weak opk. Not sure which to trust!

I don't hold 4l for 4 hours 😂😂 lol

The Ava is definitely more accurate temp wise but it's always slightly out by a day or 2 compared to opks

Greenbks · 09/08/2020 10:24

@RMarieClaire I believe based on my ‘symptoms’ that the clear blue was right. The strip test only got weaker after and when I lined them up I could see the line was darkest (Even though I’ve had darker on strips previously) around my clear blue smiley.

It’s 7DPO for me and I’m waiting for 10dpo (Wednesday) to test and see if I’m pregnant. Good luck to you!

tootiredtoclean · 09/08/2020 13:40

@LaceyMermaid
Thank you. I think I will give it a try. 75% of the month I'll be able to do it so hopefully that will be enough.

Got another negative OPK last night. At work today so can't test until later again.

@Greenbks that's really useful thank you. @RMarieClaire my OPKs look just like yours. I wonder if they're the same batch. Definitely looks like the clear blue is more reliable. Good luck with your BFPs.

@claireb707 😂 after 3l I'm rushing to the toilet every half hour no way I could hold it for 4.

Hi all, I know this is a really old thread and a serious long shot but I wonder could anyone help? All my OPKs have been low and negative but I got a flashing smiley on Saturday on a CB end a solid yesterday!? But no positive on the cheap strips?! They usually go strong (but all of a sudden) so I’m really confused? Unless I missed my peak with the cheap OPK? Should I trust the CB more? Thanks so much - I really hope you’ve all had your BFPs by now 🤞🏻💛

Hi Lovely,

How long are you leaving the tests before you take pictures of them?
