Hey,

Just wondering people's thoughts on early pregnancy tests? are they worth it? Have people gotten accurate results?

My advice: don't do it unless you are of an age (like me) where pregnancy may be more difficult. I am literally just going through a chemical and it's heartbreaking. The only good thing for me is that it had confirmed that I can at least get pregnant (I'm 40 so it was a concern) but seeing the positives turn to negative is really hard. I will try not to test again now until my period is actually late. I tested on Tues and got a BFP but neg on CB digital. Then on Weds, I got pregnant 1-2 weeks on a digital. Positive on Thurs and then didn't test on Fri as started to believe I really could be pregnant. Tested yesterday as knew my period was due either yesterday or today, expecting a nice strong positive - and it was completely blank. Immediately tried a few more tests, hoping it was a duff one but it wasn't. I've started bleeding this afternoon. So I would say: yes, early tests will detect a pregnancy but it's estimated that a very high proportion (50 to 75 percent) of miscarriages happen at this early stage, often before women are even aware. So if you test early, I think you have to be prepared to hold on to your seat and accept that an early positive test has a decent chance of not becoming a viable pregnancy. In my case, the tests became negative before my period was even due - if I hadn't tested, I would never have known. Like I say - at least I know I can conceive but having it then not having it is tough.

Personally I prefer them. I have had two chemical that I wouldn’t of known I had if I didn’t test early, but this verified to me that I was getting pregnant easily but they weren’t sticking around, I also had a loss at 6 weeks, and these three together let me know something was wrong and I was able to get bloods done from my doctor and prescribed aspirin that I was told to start from my next BFP. I tested early again and got my BFP at only 7dpo and started my aspirin . I’m now nearly 7 weeks and get early reassurance scans due to the previous losses and I finally seen a good strong heart beat! Where as I believe if I didn’t test early I would never have known to start aspirin and may continue to try without success for a long while x
