I did a pink line test yesterday and had a pretty clear result. Tried clear blue this morning and it’s so faint I can barely read it.

I’m a week late so I don’t know what to think? Pics attached x

Do you know when you ovulated?

Have you don't any other pregnancy tests this month?

My initial feeling is that this may be a chemical pregnancy and so your period may arrive in a few days time. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Sarahjh86 · 07/08/2020 11:15

I had a chemical pregnancy last month I really
Hope it’s not again 😭

I’m going to get a first response one today xx

@Sarahjh86 - pink dyes work earlier than blue dyes. Doesnt necessarily mean its a chemical. Your best bet is to check every 2-3 days using the same tests and FMU (as the hormone doubles every few days). Fingers crossed for you that it progresses.

Curiosity101 · 07/08/2020 12:00

I'm sorry to hear that 😔. There are other things that it could be, and not everyone's HCG rises at the same speed.

But the clear blue is noticeably lighter than the first test you took and they're probably around the same sensitivity as each other (25mlU by the looks of it).

If you ovulated late and are still early on then it's certainly still possible that your HCG levels are still low.

If you retest with FMU tomorrow I think you'll have your answer. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 07/08/2020 12:01

If you dont know when you ovulated you may not be a week late for AF. If you ovulated late, it might just be an early test line. Whereas if you know (with temps and opks) that you ovulated on time it is more likely to become a chemical

Sarahjh86 · 07/08/2020 12:03

Yeah I haven’t been checking ovulation more just winging it so to speak and see what happens

I’m so confused guess it’s a wait and see job!

Will keep you updated

Thank you for replying all xx

In that case I'd definitely remain hopeful if I were you.

If you can get another Alere that would probably be best cause you could compare the 2 tests 48 hours apart. 48 hours should give you plenty of time to see a clear line progression.

Fingers crossed for you!

I have just done a first response one pics attached ❤️

It's difficult to draw any conclusions as you're now comparing 3 different brands of test taken at 3 different times of day.

I can definitely see the line on the FRER though Smile

Sarahjh86 · 07/08/2020 14:24

Sorry gone test crazy haven’t I!

I will be sticking with the FRER now and FMU

it seems really faint on a frer for being a week late. saying that, it does depend on when you ovulated. as you said, stick to frer - you should hopefully see it getting darker.

Sarahjh86 · 07/08/2020 20:07

I haven’t been testing for ovulation so I’m late by my normal cycle if that makes sense. I don’t know when I ovulated xx

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 07/08/2020 20:25

With my dd I didn't get a positive in a FRER until about 10 days late, and even then it was a really faint line.

Weirdly, for this pregnancy, I got an extremely clear BFP about a week before I should have been able to get one at all.

So I wouldn't worry too much about line colour just yet

TJ17 · 07/08/2020 21:01

You can't compare line colour on different tests because every test has a different sensitivity and every urine will have a different concentration of HCG levels depending on how much you've drank/time of testing etc.

My advice would be to test again in a few days, always in the morning - first urine of the day.

Good luck Thanks

Sarahjh86 · 07/08/2020 21:06

Thanks both 🤞🏻 Xx
