Hello everyone!

I came off the pill at the beginning of July. I would have usually started my period by now, however I haven’t had it yet. We have been trying for a baby and I understand it is early but I have had signs such as cramping and sensitive nipples. I took a test yesterday and it was a faint positive, I took another one today and it was negative not even a faint line. Could I be testing too early? Any help would be fab. Thank you 💕

@GGC77 yes you could be testing early. Are you using your fmu?

Juno231 · 04/08/2020 21:05

It also depends on what tests you are using - some are notorious for false positives.

GGC77 · 04/08/2020 21:05

Yesterday I tested in the afternoon and it was the faint positive. When I tested this morning it was a clear negative. I think I’m just confused because when I was on the pill my cycle was 28 days not I’m not too sure.

It was clear blue but the results came up within the 3 minute window. I have read a lot about the clear blue and evap lines

@GGC77 it could be an evap line. Do you have a picture?

GGC77 · 04/08/2020 21:36

Yes I have a picture I will send it now x @Lollol86

How do I attach a picture ?

We're you on the combined pill where you take a 1 week break every 3 weeks? If so your cycle wasn't 28 days, your cycle was controlled by the pill which is why it was 28 days.

When you come off the pill it can take awhile to regulate. My first real cycle after coming off of the pill was 35/36 days long, I didn't use OPKs or anything so I'm not sure when I ovulated that first month. I conceived in my second month and when I worked the dates backwards I worked out I ovulated on roughly CD21.

If you had a faint positive with afternoon urine and then a negative with FMU then I would guess it's probably an evap, but you should definitely retest in a couple of days to be sure.

If it does turn out to be a false positive/evap then it'll be difficult to suggest when you'll ovulate as you've only just stopped the pill. I would recommend DTD every other day and fingers crossed you'll get a BFP before you get a period.

Good luck!

@GGC77 press the little paper clip just under where you type.

GGC77 · 04/08/2020 21:49

Ahhh thank you! This was very helpful! Yes I was on the combined pill so I had a period every three weeks.

So potentially could be another week or so before I get my period if I don’t get a positive. I will wait a few days now before I do another test. I think I was just curious as I have a few symptoms. But then again it could be the symptoms of my period coming. Thank you for your help xx

I came off the pill start of June to try for baby number 2 and had no withdrawal bleed or period at all! Started getting cramps about 23rd(ish) July, took a test 26th July and got my BFP! So my point is you don't always have a period before you fall pregnant... fingers crossed, sending you lots of baby dust xx

GGC77 · 04/08/2020 21:56

@Lollol86 sorry I can’t see the paper clip. Maybe because I’m on my phone? I have only just signed up and I just read somewhere you are only able to attach a picture after 24 hours. I will try tomorrow xx

@mummy2myJJ ahhh how amazing! So you came off the pill beginning of June? Yes I came off beginning of July and my symptoms just feel different to period symptoms. But because I don’t know when I’m due on my period I don’t know when to start testing and if I’m testing too early. Ahhh congratulations though 💕💕 xxx

You're welcome Smile

It's also very normal that what you're feeling now is very different to what you're used to feeling. Normally your pill keeps your hormone levels very static, but now you're off of it your body will begin cycling so you'll experience all the normal symptoms that come with that. I've attached a couple of simplified images that demonstrate the difference in hormones when you're on the pill (1st picture) vs cycling naturally (2nd picture).

What you're feeling now could be quite a few things. Ovulation, implantation, PMS, pregnancy or even just the weirdness that comes with large hormonal changes (ie. the fact you're not at consistent hormone levels any longer).

Fingers crossed this is your month!

Ahh thank you so much you have been so helpful @Curiosity101. That’s what I thought, I said that to my partner it could be my body adjusting to all the hormones agAin. Fingers crossed it’s the month for us 💕xx
