About to start TTC number 2. First baby took 16 months and I feel like I went into it totally blind that time and now I know how awful it can be I'm freaking out a bit. I realise anecdotal data isn't much use but has anyone experienced a hard time with baby one and then gotten pregnant really easily with baby 2?

Hi @grandmasterstitch no direct experience from me but the reason we started TTC is a close friend took 14 months to get pregnant and that freaked us out and so began our TTC journey as we didn’t realise it would be so long and here I am a year later, grateful I started when I did! But back to the point, she conceived the second month TTC for her second baby and she strongly believes it was because her body knew what to do now so hope that provides some comfort 😊

It’s a question nobody can answer, you could fall preg first time around or maybe even after a few months, or even a year+. Each conception is so different, I had two great ttc journeys and then was introduced to a chemical pregnancy third time, now I had never even heard of one until I experienced it. So go in with realistic expectations and be prepared to wait but if it happens sooner that’s amazing x

No personal experience, but a friend had IVF for DC1. Basically told no hope of DH getting my friend pregnant. However...DC2 conceived naturally 3 months after DC1 was born!
Very happy surprise, but just goes to show you never really know.

I had expected to have issues (my mum needed help, I'm older, periods were quite irregular and tests to prove ovulation showed it was hit and miss at times) but I've been quicker than I expected TTC.

Good luck, I hope this journey is straight forward for you x

4 years, 4 rounds of IVF and a miscarriage for first successful pregnancy, 2nd pregnancy (2 years later) was the result of one too many wines on a Friday night! Youngest baby is now 2 weeks old.

Just a little update on this. First month and I had my BFP this morning. So apparently it can happen quicker second time round! I'm over the moon and so relieved not to have to put myself through that all again
