Hi there

I’m new to using ovulation tests and wondered if anyone can give some advice please?

I’m almost 40 and trying to conceive. I wondered if I’m actually ovulating these days as my periods aren’t quite as predictable as they once were. So thought I’d try these tests.

My average cycle was 30 days, so day 15 is when I’d expect to ovulate.

I used the tests on day 9, 11 and the morning of day 12 and the photo is attached.

I was quoted surprised to see how dark the last was was as that was only day 12. It’s not as dark as the control but obviously there’s a difference between the second and third one.

I don’t know if I’ve ovulated yet - we’ve not had sex yet so I might have actually missed it 🙄

Or do you you think that it could be a few days away yet before I ovulate?

I’ve had the pulling/tugging pain on my left side yesterday- no where near as bad today as yesterday. tmi possibly- I also wiped this morning and it was like egg white Shock

Sorry to sound a bit dense, but just wanted to check with those in the know whether they think I’m still ovulating these days.

Thanks 😊

Egg white cervical mucus is fertile so I'd DTD tonight if you can.

Im not massively familiar with those OPKs as I usually use the digital ones but it looks likely that you will ovulate very soon. Good Luck :D

I would say that test is positive, you normally ovulate 12-36 hours after your first positive, ewcm is sign of ovulation too! Xx

TableFlowerss · 01/08/2020 16:52

Thanks for your reply Anxious. Good to know people think it’s positive

Do you have an app called “flo” it will track your periods and you can see the days which you are most fertile.

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/08/2020 16:56

Yes the one on the right is positive, get doing the deed!

Ovulation can occur in a fairly big time period, which is why tracking from early in your cycle is a good idea, and doing more than one test a day when the line starts to darken. I have very regular 27/28 day cycles but ovulate between days 13 and 15, and as late as day 18 once. Your cycle can also shift slightly throughout the seasons, so you won’t necessarily be the same every month.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies. I’m now positive it’s positive Smile

Opks only track lh surge which suggest your about to ovulate within the next 2 days or so. However, you don't always ovulate after an LH surge the only way to know for sure if you've ovulated is to track bbt. I had 2 lh surges this month a week apart as didn't ovulate after the first time round. I would have missed the 2nd (and actually ovulation) if it wasn't for tracking bbt x

Actual*

TableFlowerss · 01/08/2020 21:05

What’s bbt? Sorry for being thick Confused

Is it temperature actually?

OP posts:
NoCallerID · 01/08/2020 21:09

It's body basal temperature, yes.
It's the only way to confirm ovulation actually happened (other than ultrasound).

ARIO · 02/08/2020 07:49

Yes basal body temp. You take it with a specific thermometer first thing in the morning. Once your ov has happened you get a shift in temp. Of course, you can only see it in hindsight. Fertility friend is a good app.
