Thought I had implantation bleeding but still getting bfn on frer 3 days before AF??

My period is due in 3 days and I've done 4 first response tests from around 9dpo and all bfn. I feel like I've got slight cramps in my belly, which feel like it could be start of my period. I'm really now starting to think this month isn't my month, but now I had a day of spotting a brownish blood 7 dpo, which I originally was hoping was implantation! But now it's not looking hopeful that I will get my bfp this month. Has anyone else experienced this spotting which you thought was implantation bleeding? I've done a clear blue early detector today which was negative, so I really think it would have picked up if I was pregnant?

I did once, was the first month of proper ttc and I was convinced it was implantation, turned out it was my period 5 days early 😩

How many dpo are you now?

@cosmo30 aww that's so gutting. I'm now 12dpo. The spotting was exactly 7 days after ovulation, it I wiped once and there was the brownish blood, and that was it. My AF is usually around 5 days long, so I really don't think it was that! Have you had any luck since then? X

I've read about some women not getting bfp on frers for a while til after period was due! So don't lose hope just yet !
I've been trying for theee years now and not a hint of a second line in that time, I've got pcos though so makes it abit harder

How long have you been trying for?
I used to be bad for symptom spotting too, but I'd just get more and more disappointed each month and also after a lot of reading over the years I now understand that trying to spot signs is really difficult as pms and pregnancy signs are pretty much identical! The progesterone is present whether we are or aren't pregnant, unless there is something really different like sickness etc then it's hard to call it. I don't even test anymore I just wait for my period

Yes they are pretty much identical aren't they. I need to try and stop symptom spotting too as I will only get more and more disappointed, I just obsess over symptoms and also over googling stuff 🙄 which I absolutely know is the worst thing to do! I think I've ran out of stuff to actually google 😂
Just wait to see if AF turns up is definitely the best way to do it, it's just having the willpower to do that!

How did you confirm ovulation?

@Curiosity101 I was using Clearblue ovulation tests, the ones where you have days of flashing smileys, and then got my solid smiley. Also was using the cheap OPKs and they matched up to my clear blue tests

I got a negative at 11dpo and a positive at 15dpo so dont lose hope yet, it's still so early.

@Nottherealslimshady that's good to hear. How many days before your AF was due did you get your positive? And did you use an early detector test? Congrats on your BFP 😊

Thanks for confirming, I just wanted to check if it was possible ovulation had happened at a different time or not.

In that case I do understand your confusion as the blood does line up with implantation. Equally though, it was brown which means it's old, so perhaps it was from ovulation. You're never out until your period arrives, but most (not all) people who go on to get a BFP will be able to see it by 12dpo so I'd continue to proceed with caution.

Yes I'm thinking maybe it might be old blood from ovulation, was just strange as I don't bleed with ovulation, and especially not a week after, but hey ho, the body is a vey strange thing! Thank you for your advise, I think I will just wait to see if AF arrives now. Still keeping everything crossed as already feel like I can't face testing for ovulation etc again, but know that I will 🙄

My period was due between wednesday and friday and I got the postive on the friday. It was an early detection. I think implantation might have been later than usual for me. It's not a precise science unfortunately.
