New to using OPK!

Hi all. First proper month of TTC - based on my last period ovulation is predicted for around tomorrow. I’ve read on the OPK instructions that the test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line unlike pregnancy tests.. is this definitely the case? I did one late this morning and got a line for the first time but it was not as dark as the control line for definite.

@elh06 download the app call femometer you can scan the LH sticks and it will give you a reading of % and if you are low high or peak. Only at peak will the opk be darker then the control line. This happens 24-36hours before ovulation. Test morning and afternoon to get the readings if there is a line DTD so your on the safe side. This month I DTD every other day from AF and then once I knew I was ovulation we did 3 days in a row over the time. And I got my BFP this month. Best of luck this month was my first time using opks and I didn't even see the peak I missed it by not testing early enough you should start on cycle day 8/9 if regular. I tested day 10 and it was high then again next day and it was lowering and I ovulated the Following day.

@blodyn91 that is so helpful thank you! Mine was definitely not anywhere near as dark as it needs to be so I think I’ll keep testing over the next couple of days!

@elh06 you are welcome 😊 My apps always predict the wrong dates by about 2 days, so OPKs are worth it.

Hey all, hope you don't mind me jumping in here with a question.

In my first 2 months of using OPK strips I never got a peak. I get 2 lines close to the same level strength (picked up as around 80% in femometer app) but then further tests showed it getting lighter again. Do you think this means ovulation isn't happening? Or do you think it's maybe urine too diluted, or just my body produces less LH? 😐

I wouldn't stress yourself over them too much either, I've been trying to concieve for 4 weeks (first time trying) prepared myself with so many OPKS.. used them everyday, sometimes twice a day!
Never once got a positive! And I found out I'm pregnant 3 days ago! ❤️

So I'm guessing I was testing at the wrong times or missed it completely in the evening it something! - and I was so worried I hadn't ovulated... I clearly did! 💓

My advice, get the cheap ones and do one in the morning and one in the evening 👌🏼
