Hi everyone, I posted yesterday- somewhere I can’t find it! I’m now 2/3 days late and I’ve been tracking my cycles and the last two were 28 days long. I spoke with the Dr a few weeks ago and she says o would have ovulated on the 9th July. I remember doing an OPK in the evening of the 9th as my app said I’d ovulate 10th and it came back negative?! We have DTD every other day and now I’m late but I’ve take 3 tests and all negative?! I did notice some EW CM the following week so I’m now thinking did I ovulate late? Or just a coincidence? I have been experiencing a little ovulation bleeding the last two cycles, which is why I spoke to the Dr. Is there anyone out there with a similar situation?? I’m getting really stressed out now as I’m late which is not normal for me and my tests are negative?! I keep getting sharp twinges in my lower pelvic area- like stitch?!

I think your doctor has been a little unhelpful to you if they made a statement about when you would ovulate without doing tests to back it up. So I would completely ignore what the doctor said there. Out of interest, how have you diagnosed ovulation bleeding?

Based on the fact you've not had a positive OPK we can confidently say that we don't know when you ovulated. Just because you normally have a 28 day cycle doesn't mean every cycle has to be the same length.

I would guess you have ovulated later than predicted this month and so you're potentially not late for your period yet. Your period (on average) arrives 12-14 days after ovulation if you're not pregnant.

EWCM isn't a perfect predictor of ovulation but how many days ago was it that you saw it?

I'm not sure how old you are but from about 40 my cycle started to vary by 2-3 days each month. My dr has checked hormone levels and they are still high enough to say I should be on birth control but I've noticed increased variance. This doesn't reflect your ability to get pregnant but if your cycle isn't 28 days you may need to be patient. I would concentrate on just being a loving couple, relax and let nature take its course - once you get to 5 days late that's when to get your hopes up, not before

Is the GP investigating the unusual bleeding?

Negative tests and a late period happen very regularly. Just have a quick scroll through threads in conception. There's at least one a week and ime, it's almost never due to pregnancy. Mostly it's a blip caused by a likely late ovulation or anovulatory cycle.

Thanks all. Yes the bleeding has been checked which is why I spoke with the GP. It happened the month before too. My smear was done in May and came back fine. So the Dr thinks that it’s ovulation bleeding. But I’m keeping an eye on it. I only did one OPK this month as I didn’t want to get to bogged down in statistics. For those who asked, I’m 31. I just hate waiting! It’s so frustrating!

So the Dr thinks that it’s ovulation bleeding.

The issue I've got with that is that the doctor said you will ovulate on a specific day without doing any tests to check hormone levels?

And also unless you've been doing BBT and OPKs then you can't be sure the bleeding tallies up with ovulation?

If the GP wasn't worried then I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. But if it continues to bother you then I'd definitely be speaking to another doctor and potentially explain that is has been assumed but not confirmed as ovulation bleeding.
