Frer -false positive?

Has anyone had a false positive on FRER or a pink coloured evap line? Yesterday afternoon at around 4pm I took an FRER and a faint but most definitely pink line popped up in under a minute. I was quite taken aback as I only stopped taking my mini pill two weeks ago and was expecting things to take longer to get going but I fancied a couple of glasses of wine so thought I'd better check. I also got a faint but definitely there line on an IC (although I really don't trust ICs as I've used them previously and they do have annoying evap lines and indents). Given that they were faint, I chucked them both in the bin and decided to use FMU today for a clearer result.

This morning, I've taken another FRER and it's a very clear, stark white negative. No question. I mean, I could take a pic but there's no point - I am 100% sure there is absolutely no line whatsoever after examining it from every angle. I didn't take a photo of yesterday's test either annoyingly but it was definitely a faint pink line, not just the indent.

I'm so confused! Was the test yesterday just a dud? I did think it was pretty quick to be getting a BFP. I've ordered some more FRERs so I might take one again in a couple of days I guess. I'm just baffled as I thought they were a reliable brand!

You can see a faint line on FRER before testing is there a pinkness to it ? I recently did FRER fmu and was very faint I thought it was false then did another in afternoon and it got darker next morning fmu on CB barley could see line only a shadow then afternoon blue line I did my digital as well with afternoon and it came back positive I find afternoon urine was much more stronger the fmu

Thanks for your reply. Yeah the test yesterday definitely had pinkness to it but not today! Maybe I should try again in the afternoon as you say.

False positives are rare, so two feels very unlikely. I'm trying to work out if it's possible if you only stopped the pill 2 weeks ago, but wonder if you're actually testing really early (like 7/8dpo), and that might explain why the positives aren't consistent. Can you bear to wait a few days and rest again?

Yes I'm not sure if it is possible to be honest! It must be very very early if I am. I think I'm going to wait a week and see what happens - I've done some googling and it could also be a chemical so I might see if I start bleeding in the next few days then re-test next weekend if not.

I always got darker lines in the afternoon with FRER, I always tested from 9dpo too!

Oh interesting! Maybe I'll try an afternoon test next time then! I've used them before with fmu and they've been fine but I have no idea where I am in my cycle (didn't even think I'd ovulated yet tbh!) so goodness knows when AF is due.

Hey @KatnissK I have definitely had a false positive from a FRER before, it was one that I ordered from Amazon. I looked at the reviews after testing negative the next day with a shop bought one and loads of women have said the same. I'm not sure if it was a dodgy batch or an all out fake product but very frustrating all the same.

@Csari I've heard some from amazon are like that too but when you open them there not in FRER back but blue ones. I got my FRER off amazon and confirmed with clear blue after reading reviews as I thought it was a fake one too but it wasn't

@Csari oh thanks - it's from Amazon so maybe that's what it is!

@Tiff94 I saw that had happened to a couple of the ladies leaving reviews. Mine were actually FRER with the correct packaging to be fair. The test came up with a pink line almost immediately, and not particularly faint considering I wasn't using FMU.
The next morning I tested with a shop bought one to confirm and no hint of a line at all so not sure what happened but I definitely wasn't pregnant, I imagine even a chemical pregnancy would take longer to fade?
Hopefully your test is right though and you get your BFP OP :D

@KatnissK I bought mine from amazon last Thursday and we're both correct. Don't count yourself out I think it's positive but like I said grab another test to confirm that's what I did, I was like you last week I even put a similar post up to ask about false FRERs. Because Of the reviews but when I checked they were all in blue packs with a different language on it mine were pink with frer. I hope it is a bfp for you.

Update: I bought a six days early digital test and did it this morning- not pregnant! So I think that test on Saturday was a dud. I checked out the reviews on amazon and you're all correct- lots of people complaining about inaccurate results. Also noticed the same on clearblue digital reviews - people getting a different brand of test in the clearblue box and lots of faulty / invalid results. Just a heads up in case anyone reads this thread and is thinking of buying a test!

@KatnissK that's such a disappointment. But I've heard almost the digital s should be done day of missed period. Like I said to you I got both FRER and CB from amazon and both came up positive and i am pregnant so maybe there is a bad batch in them. Request your money back and tell them there fakes only way for amazon to get on top of it. Best of luck in the future xxx
