Iv started taking seven seas preconception trying for a baby as it has had soooo many good reviews. Anybody on here tried them and had some success? Also whats everybodys thoughts on DH taking folic acid?

We did pre conception vits from pregnacare for both DH and I first time (DH had the male version). The second time he just had a generic multivitamin and I had the pregnacare again. Got pregnant first time both times (started mine 3 months before TTC and DH's one month before). I'm not sure about folic acid for men but a number of vitamin deficiencies can affect sperm function so I always felt vitamins of some sort were a decent idea.

All the nhs recommends is folic acid before conception for the woman. IMO pre conception multivitamins are simply marketing and playing in peoples desire to do anything to get pregnant. They wont do any harm, but they wont do much good either. Just eat well and make sure you get some exercise. That will be more beneficial.

Iv heard pregnacare can extend your cycles and with having irregular bleeding id rather not have that. I will see how i go with these tablets. I did google if men could take folic acid and it said they could but i might just buy a multivitamin instead

Just make sure you eat well, don't smoke and take folic acid. Good Luck Smile

I tried the seven seas ones you are taking but I'm pretty sure they were making me feel sick so I stopped taking them to see if sickness stopped and it did. X

Folic acid is a must take for women, not to help conceive but to safeguard fetal health. DH and I both take vitamin D too (most Brits are deficient after all!). Otherwise, if your fertility is normal nothing has a proven benefit in helping you conceive.

I've just ordered folic acid, CoQ10 and Vital DHA. I read about the combo on a reputable blog so thought give it a go!

I think as long as you're not putting anything harmful into your body surely you can't go wrong?

RummidgeGeneral · 26/07/2020 22:32

Well I had twins after taking them!

Nottherealslimshady · 26/07/2020 22:36

I took seven seas and got BFP this month. DH has been taking a generic multivitamin

Cha0907 · 28/07/2020 22:57

Hey sorry for jumping on this thread.

@beckyBP have you started taking the coq10 and vital DHA yet? I started just over a week ago. Really hoping this helps 🤞🏻

NavyBerry · 28/07/2020 23:05

Just ordered conceive max. Feel I need smth to keep me going. Maybe I'm a marketing victim but who knows... had too many mmc

mosquitofeast · 28/07/2020 23:08

folic acid is vital, be careful with vitamin A and D, both can be dangerous for unborn babies. Both can be dangerous for anyone, in excess, but particularly for unborn babies. Take the recommended amount, and not one iota over.

xoxochellexoxo · 29/07/2020 11:30

Well iv been on the seven seas for 6 days now and today after being 22 days late so all in all a 61 day cycle i finally got my period!! Im booked in at the drs tomoro to get blood taken to check Hormones

It would take a very high dose of vitamin D to be dangerous - adults can take up to 100ug per day with the recommended dose for everyone being 10ug per day. Vitamin A should be avoided.

zippityzip · 29/07/2020 11:46

I took the seven seas preconception vitamins as I heard that the Pregnacare ones can extend your cycle and I wanted to avoid that.

I fell pregnant the first month I was taking them. Didn't even finish the pack. We were trying for one cycle before that.

What may have helped was my husband was taking Wellman Preconception vitamins at the same time, they had great reviews too.

Good luck!

lifefromhome · 29/07/2020 11:57

I started taking these on the 7th May having just taken folic acid and vitamin D separately beforehand. I was a bit sceptical as we had been trying since December and my cycles were ranging from 53-65 days. I got my BFP on the 14th June having only really just started my second packet. Good luck and I hope it's not too long before you get your BFP 😊

xoxochellexoxo · 29/07/2020 13:33

Thanks ladies for letting me know how you got on. Iv heard so many bad reviews about pregnancare about making your cycles longer and with having roughly a 40day cycle anyway i wanted to reduce this and seven seas offered everything i wanted plus there so small. My OH is taking a generic multivitamin aswell. I was told if i didnt have AF by the end of aug i would have to get tests and scans done and i dont know if it was the tablets or not but im just happy that shes here and that i can try again, this is my 12th cycle TTC and would love nothing more than getting a BFP baby dust to us all Thanks
