@Juno231 I'll definitely find out. I'll probably pay for an early gender scan at 16 weeks. I'm 6 weeks on Thursday so still got ages to go and feel like I need to break the waiting up 😂

Ltay2 · 28/07/2020 15:03

@Juno231 I'll definitely find out but will wait until 20 weeks. I know of at least 2 couples who had early gender scans and then they ended up being told differently (correctly) at the 20 week scan 🙈

Katao · 28/07/2020 15:11

@Juno231 that's a tricky one. It would be lovely to know so very tempting but also finding out when they were born was an amazing experience so I'd be more inclined to wait.

LV1987 · 28/07/2020 15:18

@Juno231 that's a tough one... I don't think my partner knew with either of his, and although we've not really spoken about it (he's not one to think about these things until they are right on the table) I think he'd want to know this time. But it would be my first, and probably my only so I think I would rather the surprise... I don't know, it's a tough one and I'll probably change my mind about a million times before my BFP arrives 😂

Juno231 · 28/07/2020 15:34

@LV1987 I think you have the say on that one in that case!

@Ltay2 I'd get the harmony test, that's a blood test so much less risk of it being wrong.

Quercus3 · 28/07/2020 15:35

@Juno231ooh good question! My partner and I are exactly the same as you and yours. I think if we did find out I'd want to keep it a secret to stop my mum and MIL going mad buying pink/blue stuff too! But I can imagine it's very hard not to let slip 😬

I think not knowing the sex would be such a lovely surprise but I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait when it comes to it 😅

Juno231 · 28/07/2020 15:37

Only reason I'd give in to OH is because knowing if it's a boy/girl is meant to help dads visualise/get attached to the baby. I think my husband needs things to be tangible so I think he'd really struggle with the baby being an abstract being, and knowing would help him make it feel real.

That and I'm kinda on the fence anyway so don't need much to be persuaded! Plus I can see it being an absolute nightmare for us to pick baby names so it would be nice to cut that drama by half lol.

Juno231 · 28/07/2020 15:40

@quercus3 yes!! I 100% agree with all of what you said and will def try and not tell my family what we're expecting. My cousin had a baby girl last year and the stuff my mum bought them was so pink and with sparkly stuff on that I had to tell her to please remember not to get us anything like that when the time comes...

2020mission · 28/07/2020 15:40

@Juno231 I'd be happy enough to find out the sex. I think it would mostly just be nice to have the name picked and get used to thinking of the baby as daughter/son and their name before they arrive. I wouldn't be running out buying all blue or pink things though because of knowing.

2020mission · 28/07/2020 15:42

@Juno231 I also think not finding out the sex will feel similar to deciding not to take a pregnancy test early and just wait and see if AF comes... and we know how hard that is 😂

Quercus3 · 28/07/2020 15:52

@2020mission such a good point about the pregnancy test 😅

@Juno231I hadn't even considered the naming debacle 😂 that's another good reason to find out I guess! I love thinking about names but I think agreeing on one with my husband is not going to be easy...

LaceyMermaid · 28/07/2020 15:55

I found out with all three of my other dc I’m just too nosy! They’re all boys so I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t need a test to tell me my fourth (if lucky enough to have one) would be a boy!

Skip86 · 28/07/2020 15:58

@Juno231 we will definitely find out! With my first baby my standard 12 wk bloods came back as 'high risk' for genetic disorders so I got the harmony test at about 14 wks. Then with my second I just went straight to getting the harmony test.
With this one I'll do the same, plus we have 2 boys so I will really need to get my head around having a third boy if that's what it is - I don't want that surprise on the day of birth! So I'm getting the test done in two weeks from today and will find out in about 3.5 weeks 🙊

Juno231 · 28/07/2020 16:01

@2020mission ahhahahahah that is such a good point. Considering I start destroying sticks at 8dpo knowing full well it will be a BFN I'm so not gonna be able to hold off finding out!

@LaceyMermaid that's a lot of boys! A friend of mine is expecting her 2nd boy and she has three step sons as well so her husband definitely only seems to carry one type of swimmer lol.

LaceyMermaid · 28/07/2020 16:08

I think my DH only does boys too! @Skip86 do you mind me asking how much it is for harmony test? I’m I tested to know as I’m on their older side and got a high risk for spina bifida on NHS with my third son and so it sounds like something I might do if I do get pregnant.

LaceyMermaid · 28/07/2020 16:09

Oh and @Skip86 I know what you mean about getting your head around it but take from a mum of 3 boys I love it! Wouldn’t mind at all if I had another one.

Ltay2 · 28/07/2020 16:33

@Juno231 Oh really, I've never even heard of harmony test - shows how much I know 😂

blodyn91 · 28/07/2020 17:03

Never knew you could find out before week 20 🙈
I think I would want to find out. I don't like surprises much 😆 even though I don't care if it's a girl or boy, and I will dress my girl as a boy probaly because I hated anything pink/princess related 🤣
Yes to the preg test comparison 😅

Vil10 · 28/07/2020 17:09

Hey girls, been quiet on here today! I think we would find out the gender, I know it's not a massive issue but I'd love to be organised and do the babies nursery and my OH really wants to find out too! I think we'd find out but not tell everyone so it's still a surprise to everyone else, and we definitely wouldn't tell anyone the name choices either!

So I'm 6dpo, and had very very mild period type pains today?? Not sure whether it's just in my head or what!

Hope everyone has had a good day x

Franklydear · 28/07/2020 17:49

I would definitely want to know the sex, I did the first time and will next, I like to plan
For baby naming we have an infalível system, I come up with hundreds of names and DH will say ok to one of them eventually, with D's we also change it 3 times, so I am not embroidering anything before hand

2alreadywantanother · 28/07/2020 17:52

I dodnt find out with my 2 but think I would if I go again. Dont think DH would want to known tho

Ltay2 · 28/07/2020 17:59

@Vil10 I've had mild period type pains the last 2 days too, although I was 9-10DPO so further a long than you! 6DPO is a bit odd for pains, maybe it's just a similar feeling but nothing related to period! I keep panicking about mine but mine tend to be around the time my stomach is a bit gurgly too so thinking it's probably more to do with the excessive amounts of cereal/milk I've eaten the last few days (resurfaced obsession 😂)

LaceyMermaid · 28/07/2020 18:04

@Vil10 @Ltay2 I’ve had cramps at around 6dpo and 8/9 DPO! No idea if that’s good or bad I’ll let you know! 🤨
You sound like my 15 year old @Ltay2 he eats cereal like it’s going out of fashion!

LT103 · 28/07/2020 18:09

I can’t decide if I’d like to know if boy/girl. I’d love the surprise but I know my curiosity will win. Would need to see what my oh thought

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/07/2020 18:11

I would want to know @Juno231 as I'm so impatient. But who knows once/if I finally get a BFP I might change my mind and want the surprise! I can't see that happening tho 😂 not even discussed it with my husband yet. Just want to get that positive test first. We're starting to worry something is wrong now, even tho it's hopefully just a matter of time now!
