Evening all.... I feel a bit daft posting this but what do you all think? Is this test positive or negative? For background.... I do have a coil fitted and I would have only conceived 9 days ago, so with this in mind I feel like it can’t be positive?! I mean I know it can but I don’t feel like I believe it 😂 my period ended on Saturday 11th, had intercourse with DP that night and not since. Last few days I’ve felt lots of discomfort, like period pains and my boobs feel a bit sore just on the sides. Then I went to the loo earlier and I was bleeding slightly. So I just did a test cos otherwise I’d drive myself up the wall ‘wondering’ if it could be pregnancy! I’ve not mentioned the test to DP yet.

Okay DP arrived home with a different test. Tesco didn’t have the digital one that physically read ‘pregnant’ or ‘not pregnant’ it’s just a different clear blue one he grabbed! He walked in and said ‘go pee then I’m excited’ which made me more excited too.... then I get this.... and now I’ve no idea what to think tbh. My boobs are very sore but I also really didn’t expect a positive what with having a coil. So now it looks like I’m going to have to find patience and just re test in a few days maybe?!

@ Bluesky2021 i would also say that would be too early but I’m deffo not in a position to give great advice as I’ve not a clue what’s going on in my own body never mind anyone else’s lol 😂😂 but good luck, I understand that ‘urge’ to test, before my DS I’d convince myself every week I must be pregnant

First one looked positive. I'd do another test with you first wee in the morning as likely just very early and will become more strongly positive in next few days.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 20/07/2020 21:22

How long will it have been OP? Just when I was pregnant with DD1, I took exactly the same test 2 weeks after 'conception' (she was IVF so I knew the exact dates) and it showed up so, so faint - I had to hold it up to the light to see any sort of second line and that was after 2 weeks. You're best bet after a digital is a FRER - good luck! And I also think your other one was a positive

Anny3535 · 20/07/2020 21:33

Hi ev1 new ere I am 3 days late i hope i get my bfp soon how many days late til u all tested to get a postive

TJ17 · 20/07/2020 21:34

First one deffo looks positive to me but I think it's far too early (in terms of conception) to test this late in the day as the HCG in your urine is not going to be very concentrated at all.

Also, depends on the sensitivity of the tests you were taking. Some are way more sensitive than others.

Good luck 🙏🏼🤗

TJ17 · 20/07/2020 21:35

Sorry meant to say to test again using first morning urine!

TLBftm · 20/07/2020 23:01

@ dillydallydollydaydream7 I would have conceived only 9 days ago.... I wish I never tested now, been left feeling quite confused. It was probably silly to test this early and I did think that before testing but my impatience got the better of me lol! I also went through similar with my DS, the line was so faint my other half swore blind it was negative and there was zero signs of a line but I just knew I could see one... and I was right!

I think I will wait a few days and get the first response!

As a previous poster said, falling pregnant with the coil in situ presents a risk to any foetus and also an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy (I think). I hope this works out the way you want it to, but if you have any suspicion you might be pregnant please consult a Dr soon. Thanks 🤞🏻

TLBftm · 20/07/2020 23:38

@ lastditchattempt20 thanks, I have had a read online (and scared myself), I’m now worried due to Covid about actually getting to see a midwife or Dr should I need to as I know many are just phone apps still! Deffo going to re test and ring them though. I hate this uncertainty I just want to know either way! It would be welcome news all in all albeit not the best timing for us but, I’ve always said there never is a ‘perfect time’

Moominmiss · 21/07/2020 08:42

Did you retest this morning op? That first test is a glaringly positive, positive!!!

TLBftm · 21/07/2020 09:13

@ Moominmiss I haven’t... don’t have another test so I’m going to grab one today and will probably do it tomorrow morning. Deffo looks positive though doesn’t it? I just can’t understand one positive and one negative!?

Soubriquet · 21/07/2020 09:17

Clear blue have a lower detection rate than red dye tests so it’s possible it hasn’t picked up the hormone whereas the first test has

TLBftm · 21/07/2020 10:33

@ Soubriquet oh I didn’t know that, always kind of thought clear blue were the best ones...

OP posts:
Addler · 21/07/2020 10:41

You should get a FRER, the pink dye one. Not a rapid response, get the early response one. They're more sensitive.

justanotherneighinparadise · 21/07/2020 10:45

Bless you, that is confusing!! All you can do is test again and see.

Soubriquet · 21/07/2020 10:48

They are marketed as the best so I get why, but actually no they aren’t.

Funnily enough, the £1 pink dye strips are more accurate than clear blue Confused

TLBftm · 21/07/2020 11:14

It is confusing, I just want to know either way! I just feel like why would I get a positive result if I’m not!?

@Soubriquet Ah thanks for that. Yes the first one I did where it looks positive is just a cheap one I got in a bundle from amazon when I were trying for DS (it was still in date)

OP posts:
dillydallydollydaydream7 · 21/07/2020 14:51

@TLBftm well, I think it's definitely positive so I'll keep everything crossed for a first response one!

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 21/07/2020 14:53

@TLBftm just saw your other post - most appointments now are over the phone however I'm seeing my midwife on Thursday in person; she gave me the choice of another phone one or one in person. As long as you have a positive test, they'll likely ask you to refer yourself on the nhs website to your local trust and then you just wait for them to get in touch with you, or at least that's how it works where I am in the north east

TLBftm · 21/07/2020 16:35

@dillydallydollydaydream7 That’s good you’re getting to go and physically see your midwife! I’m hoping I can get a clear result either way as I think if I call the Dr and explain I’ve had both results, they won’t be in a rush to get me in. However if I call them with a definite positive, they may see me faster as I’ve read the coil will need removing ASAP. My area must be about to have a baby boom cos tests are few and far between it seems.... this is the only other I’ve been able to get hold of. Will do it in the morning I think

Do you think this is positive or negative?

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 21/07/2020 17:08

@TLBftm yeah I'm pleased they offered me one -
My last was on the phone so this time if I'm there in person they can hear the heartbeat. That should be a good one cause it looks like a pink dye one and they're really sensitive!
