False positive FRER?

Has anyone ever had a false positive with FRER? I have never seen a 2nd line before but this week I have had several. So faint that I don't trust it though, I am 12dpo and used SMU

Yes, I had a bright pink false positive on a FRER from amazon, got another from a shop to see line progression the next day and it was stark white.

I checked the reviews on amazon and loads of women were saying similar, so not sure if it was a dodgy batch or an outright fake product.

Never had the issue from shop bought FRERs though.

Csari · 18/07/2020 12:29

I'd say if you have had multiple lines then it's much more likely that it's a BFP though. Congratulations!

concernedforthefuture · 18/07/2020 12:31

Yes as @Csari says, if bought on an online marketplace such as Amazon / eBay, certain sellers are selling fakes and so they can't be trusted. If bought from a reputable place, a false positive is almost impossible.

Thanks everyone, that is really useful to know, I will just need to wait a few days and test again, that will give me my answer 🙂

Unfortunately yes, I had 2 last month. Went straight for the digital this month to avoid disappointment again x

MummyOfZog · 18/07/2020 15:54

Yup - last month I got two packs of x2 FRER and all had evap or indent lines. They even looked pink. No other tests showed BFP (I took lots!!). When i Googled it seems this is SO common. I now don't trust them.

OneStepOneStumble · 18/07/2020 16:01

Ooo yours looks like mine and I'm 11/12dpo too. Now I'm unsure! Bought mine in store but I'm not sure if that means anything really.

DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 16:55

@OneStepOneStumble do you have a pic of yours?

OP posts:
OneStepOneStumble · 18/07/2020 17:02

Super faint squint of a line! Actually even less clear than yours.

DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 17:11

@OneStepOneStumble ooh yes I can see a line!

OP posts:
daisychain1620 · 18/07/2020 17:12

Good luck ladies, I see lines in your tests but I just wanted to add that I've been getting lines and I'm not pregnant. I feel like I'm Frer bashing as I've posted this on another thread but I don't want others to feel the same disappointment I did.
It's a long story but basically today i did yet again another test with a v feint line. This is a recurring event, I thought I'd dip a test in tap water just to compare and both tests had a line! One from tap water! I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but don't get caught out like I didSad
You can see both tests then the single test pic was from water

Now the anxious wait until I can get to a shop for something other than a FRER just in case! 😂

OneStepOneStumble · 18/07/2020 17:13

@daisychain1620 that's what I'm worried about! I think i need to wait a few days to test on something else and confirm!

DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 17:14

@OneStepOneStumble any symptoms? I have PCOS and had IVF to have my DS 7 years ago. I don't ovulate very often so when I do I know about it!! I woke up with ovulation pain 11/12 days ago, and 7 days after that had a spot of bright red blood and watery CM, and then slight brown spotting for two days then it stopped. Also quite tingly boobs, and headaches which I never get. I know all this could be related to progesterone and all similar symptoms to PMS but the timings seem spot on

OP posts:
daisychain1620 · 18/07/2020 17:16

I truly hope you are pregnant, I've just now done 10+ tests over the last few weeks all with similar lines, some a good but darker. I thought I was having a chemical pregnancy so that's why I kept checking. Disappointment. The tap water test pissed me off thoughAngry

DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 17:17

@daisychain1620 that is bonkers!!!! I have ordered clear blue digitals, I love very remotely so can't get to an actual shop. So disappointing to hear the FRER is now so unreliable

OP posts:
DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 17:18

LIVE very remotely.....

OP posts:
OneStepOneStumble · 18/07/2020 17:22

Sore achey boobs, slight cramping and random stomach twinges and very occasional nausea. Had EWCM around the time we dtd so all possible. But I do get incredibly similar symptoms around AF so it's hard to know really whether they're genuine or just symptom spotting!

I'd already counted myself out of this month really cos it's our first month TTC and I thought no one is that lucky. But couldn't resist a FRER on the off chance.

daisychain1620 · 18/07/2020 17:23

Good luck to you ladies🤞🤗

OneStepOneStumble · 18/07/2020 17:30

Thank you @daisychain1620 - and thanks for your experiences! I'm glad to know so I don't pin all my hopes on this test as yet Smile

DustyDiva · 18/07/2020 17:38

@OneStepOneStumble yes I had very mild cramping from 6dpo to 10dpo. Your symptoms sound promising, fingers crossed 😍
Thanks everyone for all of your advise so interesting to learn about this problem with FRER

OP posts:
OneStepOneStumble · 19/07/2020 09:11

@DustyDiva well it looks like AF has arrived for me so I'm not sure I will be using FRERs anymore!! Never mind, on to the next cycle.

DustyDiva · 19/07/2020 09:42

@OneStepOneStumble I can't believe that you got such a convincing line and now have AF, FRER are now officially awful!!!!
Sending lots of baby dust to you for next cycle 🤗

OP posts:
OneStepOneStumble · 19/07/2020 10:27

@DustyDiva thank you :) baby dust for all 😊 feels like my body is trying to trick me! Thought I wasn't due AF until Tuesday! The joys of TTC

daisychain1620 · 19/07/2020 10:53

@OneStepOneStumble, that's rotten news. Hopefully next month will be your turn for a bfp. Good luck ladies x
